Anyone else over netbooks yet?

I've had a handful of them, they're too small physically, keyboards too cramped, specs too limited (thanks Micro$oft), graphics too slow, resolution too limited, tired of all the dongles etc (ext. DVD, TV tuners, GPS, etc...)

Just give me a real notebook, or let me use my web enabled phone (G1 atm)

I never was much of a computing away from home kind of user anyway.

I think they are meant for certain people. If you have the money to buy the best of all worlds (a desktop at home, a netbook for easy travel, or a nice laptop just in case) like I did, it helps having the netbook around when I need it for only the smallest tasks. If I need to game, burn DVD's or edit pictures, I can use my 15 inch Dell laptop or my 19 inch desktop.

Either or.

What are you doing in the coffee shop yourself? Or are you just looking through the window?

I guess I'm the opposite. Netbooks are the evolution of notebooks that I've been waiting a decade for. They do everything I would want to do in a mobile setting and they're the perfect size - small enough to carry, big enough to have useful screens and keyboard. My modded Dell Mini9 is awesome, and quite speedy. It also has no moving parts, which is great.

I want one. I have a laptop (15.6") which is great for most things, but smaller (and longer battery life) would be nice for flying/etc.

When the Macbook Air came out, I thought WTF, its too large, but after using a netbook, I think a 12-13" screen is about perfect.

The current netbooks aren't quite there, but they're advancing more quickly than just about any other sector in computers.

I still can't figure out why computer makers thought netbooks would fail but UMPCs would take off.

I would have loved to have one when I was in college. Now I don't see any need. I'm no longer super poor and always around open WiFi.

They're ok, mine's collecting dust as I haven't needed it in a couple months, but I'm not unhappy with it.

I had a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 for a few weeks before deciding it was too small to be usable. Bought a HP Mini 10 which I'm quite happy with and sold the Dell. It's my living room / train commute computer.

I've never been under them. I'd have to have one for a while to see if I'd get any use out of it.

Was there something you didn't like about the Toshiba Libretto a decade ago? :p

It meets all the basic requirements that I need. I have my desktop for everything else. I just needed something for email, web, word documents. My netbook fits the bill perfectly.

I want to get one, or at least look at some and decide if they will fit my purpose. Sometimes I don't care much for performance, it'd just be nice to have a very portable computer.
