seriously. i couldn't give one shit, letalone two. real stuff is going on in the world and we're giving too much of a fuck about this?

smdh.

I am going to have to agree, sure like anything else I had my thoughts about it. But what is going on now is just crazy. When I try to check the news it seems like that is all that is on and nothing else is happening. There are many other things happening in the world today that should be getting much more coverage it's kind of sick.

What I find fascinating is the people reactions, and how much they care about what is going on or what will happen.

I used to not give a shit and normally don't on silly nonsense like this, but in fact I do because it isn't just a couple of people. I find this case fascinating because it is so polarizing, on literally a national level. Black = GZ is a murderer of little black boys. If you're white = Trayvon was a thug who viciously attacked a guy and got what was coming to him.

The event and trial affected two people and their families, but the case still speaks to a huge racial divide.

And then you have people like me who are white and think the facts lie somewhere in the middle of those two extremes. I still don't give a shit if he's convicted or set free though.

They're both thugs in my eyes, Zimmerman just happened to be a thug with a gun. And 99/100 gun > fists. I find the people who try so hard to demonize Martin and make Zimmerman out to be this hero saint. I saw Zimmerman's Myspace, and know about his past, say what you want but there's zero evidence he's he's changed any since back then.

I'd be interested in that it looks like there is a good chance florida will now have screwed up 2 high profile cases.

I'm not passionate one way or another. Interesting to a degree. If he's found not guilt it'll be a huge outcry.

True story.

The more I learn about the case, the less I like either side.

There was a fight. One too many people survived. Typical.

I have been hearing about it a bit on American media but don't know much about the trial details. CNN has certainly made their side very clear in this case. They don't even try to hide their bias anymore. The media has been painting Trayvon Martin in an overtly positive light despite plenty of evidence to the contrary. The hicks think Zimmerman is some kind of hero.

From what I've seen, seems like this is a case of an oaf vs a thug. Both sides made errors in judgement which led to Martin's death. These were two adults and neither side tried to defuse the situation before it escalated. From the evidence, it seems that Martin was the aggressor. So there is a good case for self defence. On the other hand, this idiot Zimmerman was running around with a gun playing wannabe cop/cowboy. He should have just phoned the police and let them handle things. Which is what a rational/intelligent person would have done.

It will be difficult to prove mens rea for murder. It would have been easier to try him on negligence or manslaughter. Though this case has been hyper politicized and the media is driving it. It will be difficult for Zimmerman to get a fair trial. I'm sure the jury is fully aware of this so he'll likely be convicted of something. Either that or it will result in a mistrial.

I never understood why this case got so big in the first place. Must have been some sort of political shenanigans going on at the time and they needed some other story to point to and say 'look over there'.

It's a Hot Coffee case now.

Doesn't matter what happened, only what people perceive happened.

Don't care about the case, but concerned how much social media fuels the justice system. Won't be long til the majority deem someone worthy of death.

The case because of the social underpinnings is compelling. But I've been telling people for a year most people simply don't give a shit,

Umm no. Trayvon never got to see his 18th birthday. He was only 17 which is a minor.

Also how could Trayvon be the aggressor when he was trying to get away from someone he saw as a "creepy ass cracka".

Trayvon may have got the best of him in the fist fight but I don't believe he initiated the confrontation.

Zimmerman stalked him with a gun and that is on audio tape in the call Zimmerman made to the police.

I took interest in it for a little while when it first happened, but I didn't really follow the trial until today. I'm in the group that thinks it shouldn't have even gone to trial. Did GZ make some bad decisions? I believe so. Did he go out intending to harm someone for no reason? I don't believe so. Did he fire his gun because he felt his life was threatened? I believe so. If you agree with those last two, then there doesn't seem to be a point in charging him.

If he is found not guilty, I hope people will take time to actually think through this instead of rioting and making threatening statements. More violence isn't going to solve any racial bias that may or may not exist.

It is said "violence is the voice of the unheard."

Zimmerman injuries were not life threatening. He didn't even need stiches. All he needed was a couple of band aids.

Zimmerman was the one looking for trouble. We all know guns make tough guys out of p*ssies.

It was testified that when Trayvon asked Zimmerman why he was following him, Zimmerman asked "what are you doing around here." Then Trayvon was heard saying "get off get off."
Obviously a fight then ensued and Trayvon got the best of Zimmerman in the end but Zimmerman didn't even have to fight back... he had a gun.

Also Zimmerman took a class where the stand your ground law was taught and got an A in the class according to his teacher that testified.
I believe Zimmerman knew what to say in order to make it seem like he did nothing wrong.

A trial was needed to try to get both sides out there as much as possible.
You can't go around shooting unarmed people and not expect to be tried.

Hi. Welcome to the United States! There is very little actual news presented in the media here.

I try to tell myself I don't care. It's just to keep away the pain of knowing how ruined the world is. I can't do anything about it, because people create this mess intentionally. You know perfectly well the consequences, but people don't stop and think about it. We've all dug our own holes. The worst part is the hole someone else dug that you are born in and can't do anything about, and that's how governments eventually collapse and society is scarred and then we tell ourselves we'll never let that happen again, and start a new government and new society. It never ends.
