Anyone else just not into L4D?

Played the PC and 360 demos, even played the entire first "movie" on the 360, and overall my impression is still a resounding "meh". Not enough boss types, not enough weapons, sniper rifle is essentially useless, and not enough aesthetic variance between levels. I feel like I'm on crazy pills...I typically love everything Valve puts out, but this one...not so much.

Anyone else feeling this way?

Have you played it online or just single player?

The online aspect cinches it for me and after playing through a whole versus campaign with 7 other people online solidifies that I'll probably be playing for many months to come.

With the versus mode, you have 8 people, 2 teams. You play through a scene as infected and survivor and get rated on performance through the level. Hilarious fun.

It's a blast, and the sniper can come in VERY handy. Ever had one of those smokers nab a teammate from a mile away?

I can see how it wouldn't appeal to some people though, can't have a universal game!

If you read all my earlier posts then you'd see I was a staunch opponent of this game.

I'd consider buying it @29.99

I like it, I wish each of the 4 characters had stats though, it would make playing different people more interesting. Game has awesome graphics, runs super fast on my mid class PC and is just mindless fun. I played the demo only, I'll buy it when it's $30, hopefully by New Years Steam will have a one day sale or something where it's $30. I'd love to be playing the hell out of it, but I'm just too cheap to drop $50 on it.

What, outstanding fun?

This is the first game in ages that I started playing, and after awhile looked at the clock and said "oh crap, its 2am, I gotta get to bed", then played another few rounds.

While it certainly is outstanding fun, pontifex is right in that the price is steep. But I'd say that's the fault of the Orange Box for being such an unbelievable bundle for the same $50 that L4D is selling for.

yeah L4D should be 30$, but I'm sure more campaigns will come out for free via steam. pontifex, play the demo with a friend

i played the demo online and it was fun... but i just dont see it being a long-lasting thing for me because there are only a few maps.

edit: and i always tend to move slowly through the map to reduce the chances of getting pwnd by zombies. one map, my team meleed our entire way through the map.

Its boring.. I tried to like it I really did..
but its really meh..

it also gives me a headache (no really) when I play it..
Not like the migraine that FarCry2 gave me but still makes me uncomfortable to play none the less.

I dunno what these new games are doing to me that is giving me physical pain. CoD4 and WaW both don't do it to me. neither does WoW or WAR.

I have a feeling there's going to be more maps than you know what to do with in the very near future.

I tried the single player and didn't care for it, once I tried co-op it got a bit better, unfortunately the demo ended before I could give it another go. I got plenty of games to play as it is, I'll wait for a $29.99 price tag.

I love the sniper, it's the most useful weapon ever. It kills almost every enemy in 1 shot and you can just spam it into a crowd of zombies or a rushing horde guaranteeing that you behead or at least kill half of them.

There you go, the only people who dont like L4D are either cheapskates or singleplayer only. If your the former get a job, if your the latter... fair enough, i enjoy single player as well and L4D isnt really designed for that. Oh also pontifex didnt like it, big surprise there :p

It's amazingly fun, but you NEED to have other people with you, friends, preferably, and it gets 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x times better.
