I've seen some that I like, but I just can't get around the slide-show look of the animation. You'd think with the amount time spent detailing the scenes they could bump the framerate over 8 per second. It's like watching UT2003 played on a 486DX2 at 1600x1200. :frown:

I have to buy Ninja Scroll on DVD one of these days. 
Never liked anything else, though Fist Of The North Star was minimally cool. Akira, snore. Ghost In The Shell, double snore. I went to an anime showing at my university a few weeks back and it was the geekiest thing EVER. It was stereotypically terrible anime and the crowd of people there were going nuts with laughter at NOTHING. Weird.

I hate when I go to fix someone's computer, and there's a stupid Anime background on their system...

I've watched some of it because a few of my friends are into it, (cowboy bebop and evangelion or something like that) but I didn't really see what the big deal was. Seemed pretty lame to me, maybe I'm just not that leet.
If you hate it, you just haven't seen the one(s) that you'd like...there is something in it for damn near anyone...I bring it home from college, on occasion, and it turns into more or less a family thing. My g/f loves it, too. Although I can't understand the appeal (to her) of the Sailor Moon thing.

I compleatly AGREE!!!!!! this anime is awsome. and there are lots of good animes out there just like anything else in teh worl some are good some are bad.
DBZ is good if you watch teh japanease eps. teh american ones are crap.

Yeah... saying "I don't like anime" is like saying "I don't like shows with cops in them"
Lots of shows have cops, but by no means are they all the same. Yes, there's bad ones, but to condemn all anime because you didn't like the one you watched is rather silly.

Those who say you hate anime: don't base your opinions on stuff you see on American tv. Not all anime is like that, with the choppy animation and the big eyes and little o mouths. A lot of people are crazy about DBZ, for example. But from my anime experience, shows like DBZ and Pokemon and such are really cheap and crappy. They should not be considered representative of all anime.
This is something that I am totally ignorant about. I own the Grave of the Fireflies DVD. Is that title even considered anime?

maybe you hate anime cuz you're watching dbz hahahaa
and btw, the only thing "anime" is the cartoony animation, the plot and stuff are usually quite well thought out, in some cases better than most american movies (ie evangelion)
the japs take their anime quite seriously

After seeing some of these posts, you all are turned off by dubbed series and the fact that any dubbed series are the ones that are mediocre or ones that try to fit the good verses evil with huge explosions or constant fight scenes and so on.
With anime, there is something that applies to everyone IMO. Though finding out by wasting bandwidth on IRC maybe up to you to decide.
About the slideshow look, its about saving costs. If you want constant animated details, the animators will have to work more thus it will take forever to release. Besides, are your eyes really going to keep up with 300+ fps verses 200+ or 100+? Those that make that statement obviously feel the urge to spend 300 per year on a video card... but thats another story.
But if you don't like anime, thats fine. I just think animation in the states is starting to become bleh.
