Anyone else here not like anime?

Anime seems really popular, and I'm not trying to put it down at all, but I'm just wondering if there is anyone else here who *doesn't* watch Anime?

I used to watch DBZ a couple of years ago, but I lost all interest in it. My friend really loves it, but I can't get into it. It just seems... I don't know what the word is.

well, I prefer anime to the current crop of cartoons, sitcoms, and reality tv that flies on our airwaves and across our cabletv.

I hate DBZ. I mean, this is the whole plot

bad guy: You wanna fight?
good guy: sure.
bad guy: fine, we'll meet 4 episodes from now.
good guys: sure
<training for 3 whole episodes>
bad guy: you ready?
good guy: hold on, doing laundry
bad guy: oh, right...my bad
good guy: np
<3 episodes later>
bad guy: you ready now?
good guy: drying
bad guy: sh|t, my bad.
good guy: It's cool
<3 eps later>
bad guy: yo
good guy: we fightin or what?
bad guy: alright
<3 eps later>
bad guy: here I go!
<fight lasts 3 episodes>
good guy: I win
bad guy: damn you!
Even stronger bad guy comes in:
Stronger bad guy: wanna fight?
good guy: he's strong, I better train.
Stronger bad guy: well? wanna fight
<go back to beginning>.

but there really is some good anime out there...I promise.

Loved Ghost in the Shell. Hated Akira. Everything else I've seen I've hated as well. Put me down in the middle.

no one reply on my other thread, let me say it again

"Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water" is the best anime EVAR

After you saw this anime, your view about anime will change, I guarantee.

watched some when i was a kid (robotech series + doromon) but stoppped watching it a long time ago

It might be that some people just got used a certain level of cartoon and show. Like I grew up on korean animation and anime dubbed into korean or subbed in english and great american cartoons like transformers, tom and jerry, voltron, etc. Going to modern american cartoons with the not so smooth animation and roughly drawn characters irked the hell outta me...so one of the easiest ways of returning to my younger days is watching the cartoons I used to watch. I watch much less TV now tho.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but it's bugging me.

One of my problems with the anime community is that people take it so seriously. People get off on watching cartoons, and that is honestly disturbing to me. Some people I've met (not all anime fans of course), don't seem to understand that it's not real.

I dunno. The whole concept is just freaky to me. I don't mean to offend anyone.

I hate it. Not enough motion. Giant eyes. Talking consists of open-close-open-close...

I loved the matrix so I checked out the animatrix. The first chapter was cool, but I couldn't even finish the second.

sadly that's the case with most anime these days. mindless/stylized violence and fanservice. 🙁

I'm not into it, but the tentacle rape aspect of such anime classics a "La Blue Girl" are pretty interesting.

you need to not watch Cartoon Network. Get on IRC, download some fan subs with the original Japanese voices. It makes a world of difference....ok well, crappy anime will still be crap, but the good ones will just shine in their original form. take inuyasha for example. i havent met one person yet that likes the dubbed version over the original.

Saying you dont like anime is like saying you dont like TV or video games, you just need to sort through the trashy ones.
