Anyone else here not like air conditioning?

Here in Southern Mississippi, I value air-conditioning very dearly. High temperatures coupled with very high humidity makes for a brutal experience without it🙁

Same. The high temps are still somewhat tolerable at this point, but with the humidity it doesn't even help to open your windows at night.

Gotta have it, during the day I can live with it turned off, but trying to sleep when its 90 degrees inside and you are sweating your balls off is the worst.

That's what box fans are for. 😛 And where are you that it's 90 degrees at night? :Q

Swamp coolers >> AC.

<= damn, red, communist, but fairly clean mostly.

Are you in LA, MS or FL? Gotta be from one of those places. Two of the prime advantages of AC is that it's a closed system that doesn't require an open window and that it has a filter for the recirculated air.

I have pollen allergies and during certain time of the year they can be debilitating. Between the sneezing, runny nose and itching eyes I'm literally crippled. If it's really bad, I break out in hives on my neck and arms and they itch like hell. Sitting in an air conditioned room with sweet, filtered air being pumped over me feels like an internal fire being quenched by an effervescent, gently flowing waterfall.

Wow...I need to be alone now...I feel all warm and tingly. 😉

Depends.
I can take heat as long as the humidity is low.
Give up AC ? uhm, no !

I don't get crazy with it though. My brother has his house so cold that his wife and kids often lay on the couch with blankets. Never understood that logic.

I don't dislike AC itself- especially when it's very hot out it can be a nice treat. But I hate when offices and stores and classrooms turn the AC up so high that you need to bring a winter coat to wear inside! Last summer I was working at a summer camp, and one of the buildings I worked in was so freezing that I needed to go through two outfits a day- shorts and a t-shirt for the hot weather outside, and long pants and long sleeves for indoors. That gets to be ridiculous.

Your brother is my new idol. Does he need more friends? I want to hang out at his house. Years ago I dated a girl from Harlingen, Texas (stumble two paces and you're in Mexico). Her Dad kept the thermostat at 62F. It was freakin' BLISS to sleep in that house. August; 90F and humid outside at NIGHT...we're sleeping with a 3-inch thick down comforter. Ah...great memories.

Now that I'm an adult and pay the ELECTRIC BILL myself, I'm not so generous with the thermostat.

I hate humidity. I think I'd be OK if the climate was not sub-tropical around here. The primary function of my A/C is removing humidity, but I WOULD NOT do without it for the sake of saving electricity or some such.

I love our central air, even though we only need it maybe one or two weeks per year. When I have my own house I'll probably get it if it's not already installed. Here it's a luxery though. Most of the time opening a window will help enough to cool the house or a room, especially overnight when the temp drops to single digits.

What I do hate is people who set it so low. Why do this when in the winter you have the furnace turned way up? It makes no sense. Technically the thermostat should pretty much stay around 20-22 and it's good in winter or summer. In winter you can even get away with putting it at like 15 to save on energy.

Sweating while sitting on your couch watching TV? No, not for me at all. AC is the best invention of all time.

Ive poured sweat while trying to sleep, wearing nothing by underwear, and no covers. When its over 100 at night, with "dry" heat. Its miserable.

<- Arizona

Swamp cooler = continuous flow of fresh air filtered through clean aspen shavings, not stuffy, oxygen depleted, recycled, virus-laden, fart-containing dead air. Having the windows open for the entire summer is one of the perks along with lower electric bills. Also the chungka chungka of a swamp cooler is so much more pleasant to listen to than the irritating loud whine of an AC unit.

Fuck that shit, A/C is AMAZING. I get all utilities included at my new place... so I'm keeping that sucker at around 65F for the summer nights.

In extreme climates I can understand it's close to a necessity, but here on the mid-east coast where (at worst) it just gets over 100, I just don't like it as much. Sure it feels awesome initially, but after a few minutes the air just feels stale and my sinuses get a little tighter. I'll take an open window, box fan, and glass of water any day. I also kinda like sweating a little. Makes me feel alive.

To each their own.

In a month, when the humidity starts happening, mine will be on during the day

And by July, it will be on darn near all the time until September.

I prefer fresh air. If it gets really hot, I just take clothes off.

I only use AC in the car when I have to be dressed professionally.

We never use AC in my apartment. I live in the midwest so it isnt extreme but some days it will hover over 100 degrees.

I love those days as you can go out and take a nap in the middle of the street comfortably.

You take a nap on 200 degree concrete?

Lucky for all of you... >_> I have to deal with a crazy-ass pollen allergy that makes me want to die in a fire rather than deal with the allergies. No allergy medications relieves your symptoms fully... They only dampen it, and if it's a bad day... You're fucked so bad... Close up the house, turn on the AC, and like a air purifier if you have one... All that stuff.. You have to change clothes... take a shower. Sucks. 🙁

allergies do suck. Get some allergy vaccines if you can afford them. Permanent removal of allergies.

I also hate the air conditioning. The stuff makes my light bill go through the fucking stratosphere...BUT, we use it. A LOT. Gets too dammed hot here in Kahleeforneeya's Central Valley NOT to use it.
