Here in Southern Mississippi, I value air-conditioning very dearly. High temperatures coupled with very high humidity makes for a brutal experience without it![]()

Gotta have it, during the day I can live with it turned off, but trying to sleep when its 90 degrees inside and you are sweating your balls off is the worst.

Depends.
I can take heat as long as the humidity is low.
Give up AC ? uhm, no !
I don't get crazy with it though. My brother has his house so cold that his wife and kids often lay on the couch with blankets. Never understood that logic.

Are you in LA, MS or FL? Gotta be from one of those places. Two of the prime advantages of AC is that it's a closed system that doesn't require an open window and that it has a filter for the recirculated air.
I have pollen allergies and during certain time of the year they can be debilitating. Between the sneezing, runny nose and itching eyes I'm literally crippled. If it's really bad, I break out in hives on my neck and arms and they itch like hell. Sitting in an air conditioned room with sweet, filtered air being pumped over me feels like an internal fire being quenched by an effervescent, gently flowing waterfall.
Wow...I need to be alone now...I feel all warm and tingly.![]()

In extreme climates I can understand it's close to a necessity, but here on the mid-east coast where (at worst) it just gets over 100, I just don't like it as much. Sure it feels awesome initially, but after a few minutes the air just feels stale and my sinuses get a little tighter. I'll take an open window, box fan, and glass of water any day. I also kinda like sweating a little. Makes me feel alive.

We never use AC in my apartment. I live in the midwest so it isnt extreme but some days it will hover over 100 degrees.
I love those days as you can go out and take a nap in the middle of the street comfortably.

Lucky for all of you... >_> I have to deal with a crazy-ass pollen allergy that makes me want to die in a fire rather than deal with the allergies. No allergy medications relieves your symptoms fully... They only dampen it, and if it's a bad day... You're fucked so bad... Close up the house, turn on the AC, and like a air purifier if you have one... All that stuff.. You have to change clothes... take a shower. Sucks.![]()
