Why the hate?
Anyway, I'm convinced that CRTs are still better LCDs for a variety of reasons, and if you can afford a dream PC like that, you definitely have enough room to put one on your desk.
- absolutely no motion blur/ghosting
- wider viewing angle
- clearer/crisper visual quality (varies, of course, but IMHO the best CRTs look better than the best LCDs)
I concede that LCDs have some advantages over CRTs, such as perfect geometry, but I'll take a huge CRT any day. It's no coincidence that many people consider CRT projectors (3 tube front PJs) as the best if one's aim is for perfect visual reproduction.
😉
EDIT: Here's one of the best CRT front PJs -
BarcoReality 912 - I'd rather have this on a Misty Evening-painted screen (maybe around 30" diag, with variable masking) than any CRT monitor.
EDIT2: Why the hell are they using those speakers for a dream PC? It sounds like they tossed them on as an afterthought. And the sound card... they should have picked an M-Audio Revolution 7.1, or a professional sound card, if gaming wasn't that high on the list.
