The way the question is phrased, the answer is yes. You can trust a venemous snake more than a dog because a snake will bite you everytime you jump into a cage with it while the dog will possibly bite you, or it might lick your face.

war may create jobs, but....why not create a government program that would hire people to construct a gigantic love bridge stretching across the U.S., clothes optional, condoms given away free every 100 meters or so. the bridge could be constructed out of shag carpet or maybe leather if it was within budget.

you could probably give ten thousand people a job for at least three years. :D

Make me.

I don't believe I was talking to you, I don't even know who you are. Hence, why would I wanna "make you"?

Not leather, it goes against the hippy-rules the bridge would definitely fall under.

Explain how this potential war in Iraq is, in any significant way, going to help the economy.

War creates jobs. Money gets spent on weapons and whatnot.

I seriously doubt this upcoming war will create very many jobs and the money will get spent in a very narrow part of our economy. War's help economies when industries get nationalized for the war effort. This little skirmish isn't going to do much for the economy and if I remember correctly the Gulf War didn't do much for it then either.

My friend made $150,000 last week when the Army ordered 1,650 cots from his website. :)

Damn you and BDawg both, MattCo.

I trust Saddam to be completely untrustworthy, unlike Bush who probably tells the truth sometimes.

Depends on how much damage Bush manages to do. They still face enormous environmental challenges, but as long as they buy our corporations and execs and don?t go genocidal, who cares, right?

They dont need to buy our corporations. They already make the same stuff we do, only cheaper.

What would you like to bet that Saddam can actually pronounce nucular (sic.)?

Well, I don't think you should be judging the pronounciations... considering that you can't properly spell the word.

I'm sick, I don't have a spell checker on my web browser, and I don't have professional speech writers and coaches. What's Dubbya's excuse?

Since Saddam is so much more trust worthy, why dont you go live in Iraq where you dont have to fear getting rounded up and executed for opposing the government. You also then don't have to fear getting missiles with chemical and biological weapons dropped on you by your own government as well.

Morons are people who haven't gotten the joke because they are too self-important to read the thread.

Good man BDawg, you got it by instinct on the second post.

Edit: it doesn't do any good to say it though because they won't read this either. :D

I just figured that someone supporting Bush's pronunciation might not be extremely well versed in the finer parts of the English language. :)

Any history major can tell you that war significantly boosts the economy. The industries behind the war effort reap huge profits from production, and in turn, this tends to trickle down to the population. Furthermore, military technology is redeployed in civilian fields. Increased production for the war effort also means more jobs, which means more money. During the war, the effect may actually run slightly negative due to the general fear of the populace (fear tends to equal a weaker economy). But, after a victory (which most people assume the war in Iraq will end in for the US) the economy tends to boom. This war will probably be no different, especially given that the spoil of the war is the elusive 'black gold.' History has plenty of examples about the economic benefits of war. World War II is a prime example - the US boomed after the war, and Europe also boomed (thanks to US support).

Great movie, and great quote.

"A Ruskie don't take a dump son without having a plan."

I'm surprised at the number of personal attacks in this thread. If you truly want to make yourself heard, you'll offer up a somewhat reasoned response to Moonbeam. While his remark may be regarded as flamebait, you shouldn't follow suit. It's against the rhetorical rules:) My thoughts? While I am by no means a Bush supporter, I do think that Saddam's history makes it prudent that we take whatever he has to say with a grain of salt. Bush hasn't engaged upon open genocide yet, and I doubt that he will (last time that happened in this country was with the Native Americans). Saddam on the other hand is trying to play nice guy to make one forget about his past. Do I think that Saddam should be removed from power? Yes, if it is clearly shown that he has violated the UN resolutions that he has agreed to uphold. Every day, more evidence is coming to light that he has.
