Any way to make ramen noodles more appealing?

1) buy shin ramen. far far superior to what you can usually get. the usual stuff will taste like styrofoam to you after shin. $1 a package though.
2) add some meat. canned chicken breast (next to the canned tuna) or the fake crab stuff is good. egg is also good (its meat!)
3) add some vegetables. canned baby corn, canned peas, cabbage, green onion, maybe some cilantro

I like to put chicken breast in my ramen, along with some chopped green onion, a few drops of sesame oil and tabasco sauce, and bean sprout. Shrimps are good with ramen noodle, too.

1) It seems some people don't realize this, but ramen isn't just a brand, it's a type of noodle.
2) Plain ramen sucks, even the good brands suck when they're plain.
3) Add veggies. Or what I do sometimes is I stir fry some ground beef and onion (maybe a little bit of ginger) with a mix of soy and oyster sauce.

I used to get instant noodle bowls that had Chinese celophane noodles instead of ramen, they were a lot better IMO.

I like plain ramen!

Seriously though, add some ground beef, pork, or turkey to it. Put some onions and garlic in it, just about anything. If you come up with something cool, post the recipe.

Napa and spinach are good vegetables to use. I dunno, when my mom does it, she mixes leftover meats and vegi with the ramen, tasty and different each time! 😀 I also use a lot of vinegar since I like the taste.

I want to make myself something to eat, but I'm kinda tired of the standard ramen noodle flavors. They're all really salty and just not that good to begin with. Anything I can do to make them taste better? Basically I want to use the noodles but make a different sauce. I've got some olive oil and assorted spices, so suggest me some recipes that are easy.

What I usually do is take some dairy creamer, butter and parmesian cheese and make a creamy sauce to put overtop of it. Make some broccoli and throw that in the mix. Yum.

Add something sour. Tabasco is good for ramen. Balsamic vinegar if you don't want spicy. (Use only a little of the seasoning packet--even soy sauce alone is better than that seasoning!)

Great--now I want Ramen for lunch.

have you tried Korean Ramen noodles?? wowsers. HOT HOT HOT. 🙂

but you can put eggs and potatoes in it, really helps the flavor but be sure to put the potatoes in FIRST and let them cook a bit before putting in ramen noodles.

also, try korean Chappaghetti. i think that's how you spell it. it's not as saulty, it's not soup based, you boil the noodles drain off the water than mix the powder with the noodles. it's tasty. especially with a little sesame seed oil.

Boil the noodles and drain off the water, toss the plain pasta with some olive oil and fresh garlic cloves. yum

You can add just about anything to ramen. I used to add some salad shrimp, peas, egg, brocolli, soy sauce, just about anything actually. Nowadays i go to the local oriental grocery store and buy 5lbs of wheat noodles. Get some chicken/beef bullion cubes. Use 2-3 cubes in water, add some diced beef/chicken/pork, toss in the noodles, chop up some green onion and any green vegetable then put them into the serving bowl and pour in the noodles/meat. works out good and is extremely cheap per meal.

there is also a really good ramen noodle-based asian cold salad recipe I have... when I find it, I'll post the details. but someone else might have had it? probably findable via search.

next time invest in some decent ramen, like Shin Ramen (korean brand). noodles are thicker, and it's really spicy right out of the bag. you'll never go back to regular ramen. (either that or Neoguri, another korean brand)

meanwhile, you can try any of the good suggestions mentioned here. i like couple of eggs thrown in with your regular noodle and soup. or you can boil the noodles, drain almost all the water (keep couple table spoon's worth), then mix it with the season packet. you can eat it with some corn on the cob on the side.

Instead of killing yourself slowly with the mega sodium content of the flava packets:

Find some (I know I'm misspelling this) Seracha sause. It is the chinese spicy garlic sauce. It is red sauce in a plastic jar with a green cap and a rooster on the front. Very, very spicy to us white folk (aka whitebread eating mofos). But it is very good by itself or adding with other things in a sauce.
EDIT: you can find this stuff in a regular store in the spices or oriental section.

My simple noodle/stir fry sauce:

One spoonful Seracha
Two or three shots of soy sauce
a half shot of orange juice
dash of vinegar (or rice wine vinegar, better)

Hard boil an egg (10 minutes in boiling water - rinse in cold water, crack and peel). Slice it up and it to the noodles with the simple sauce. You can boil the egg in the same pot as the noodles. Just put the egg in 8 minutes or so before the noodles and boil both together for 2 or 3 minutes. Make the sauce in a little bowl while the egg is cooking. So you only have two dishes dirty and it takes about 15 minutes for everything to be ready (three minutes without the egg).

Siracha sauce. at least that's what it says on the bottle i have. also i've found the green cap bottle to be tastier than the red cap bottle.
