Only thing that my friend that works at EA will tell me is that it's going to be buggy as shit.

FTFY.
They need to work on the aircraft controls, this was a collossal step backwards in BC2 from the excellent, if arcade-y, flight controls of BF2.
One of the most awe inspiring moments for me when I first got the game was watching the dogfights and spectacular crashes/near misses. The huge maps made me feel "safe", it was incredible how you could hide up on a mountain top and snipe enemies as they tried to cap a nearby flag. The sense of scale in BF2 was just entirely epic, DICE needs to figure out a way to recreate that. And while you were camped up on that ridge you never knew when a random event like a helo crashing right next to you might occur.
Also, don't allow users to have an advantage by turning down the graphic settings - in BF2 turning off dynamic shadows and grass = huge advantage over someone with those turned on.
The fact that the helo's took multiple hits from an rpg to bring down also bothered me quite abit.
I still play BF2 on a regular basis & my beef is with how long it takes jets to be repaired when flying over the strip & how low they have to get. Flying over the UAV for extended repairs is lame. One pass over the strip, granted you fly over at least 95% of the strip, should repair at least 95% of the jet, every time, period.
Helos, on the other hand, repair quickly over the pad, as they should.
I enjoy just about everything else about this game. I agree with the destruction of the helos comments, very unrealistic. I've nailed so many helos head on with a tank & they just keep going.
If you think about it, in real warfare, armor would never stand a chance against an air strike. It would be over a few minutes after it began.
Jets are way overpowered, in specific ways. Their air to ground armament is appropriate, but they are able to reload way too fast, as they are able to bomb you, fly back and reload with a quick pass, and bomb you again halfway across the map in 30 seconds easy. Therefore it is not their destructive power per se that is overpowered but the rapidity with which they can strike. This is made worse by the fact that AA is ineffective against them, and the opposing team's jets are usually partaking of the air to ground points padding goodness themselves and not trying to suppress the other team's jet.
Therefore, what they need to do is slow the reload rate of air to ground weapons to such a slow rate that they must either land, or make several passes to get another bombing salvo. Air to air weapons, on the other hand, should reload with a quick pass as normal. This will bring balance to the air to ground game and encourage more air to air fighting.
And as long as it takes either landing or multiple passes to reload bombs, then I don't care if the jet can repair itself to full with a quick pass.
