Caroylyn's was the only independent small claims action I know of that Buy.com tried to fight in court, and the judge handed them their lunch. After that, everyone I knew who actually dropped legal paper on their desk was offered a settlement.
The settlement included an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) that they would not disclose the terms of the settlement. A friend, who is also my attorney, ordered his monitor and mine on his card, so I was not officially a party to his settlement deal, and I am not subject to the NDA he signed.
Those who chose to join the class action suit also won, but it took a long time (over a year, I think), and you can be sure the attorneys took their share of the settlement. In that action, the judge was none to impressed with Buy.com's behavior, either. Since then, they have gotten new management, and, hopefully, figured out a more ethical business model.
