Hey guys i played r6 religously back in the day lol. I barely missed out on mplayer, but i was on zone till the very end. I was apart of many clans...best known from 'Clan 187' with Jester which is my cousin. I remember some of you guys. Me and Jester(Derek) visited voobly lastnight and had a match on the 1.04 patch lol. We all should try to get it going again! I miss the game and the community, best online gaming experience I ever had. BTW 'Athlete's Village and Oil Rig' were the best maps^^ huk! Imma try to name some old clans: Sr6, OTN, UTA, DAWGS, RoC, MyM, SaP, MIN, HYK....the list goes on. Now some old players: Creptic, Jester-OTN, MadFlava, Recoil, McCoy, xzycer, Prohomie, amdTaz, Kaisersoze, Shrapnel, Fossil, Nautica, and the list goes on....

Yes There are many players that are back playing the original RainbowSix from 1998 on the PC, and also Rogue Spear is available as well.. We have ladders and competitive play still.. if you'd like to play with us come to www.voobly.com and make an account.. easy lobby access, just like "Zone" back in the day, anti-cheat and everything available if needed. The ladder site for RainbowSix is www.myrainbowsix.com and it'd be awesome to get some more players!! as of today April 4, 2011, there are 35 players online at the moment 🙂

I don't know if I could come back... I think I was the only person who played every round on every map with night vision 😀
 
I spent countless hours of my life playing Rogue Spear and Urban Operations. I was on a couple of teams that were #1 on Clanladder in those games. CP, and D@M. Those were great days. I played in matches, but I couldn't log into roger wilco because my internet was too slow haha.

ehh its not. the community is small. So that means more leet's are probaly playing therefore, the noob bus will get the silent treatment. No offense of course...not too sound my own horn. When i transitioned from mplayer to gamespy. people started to accuse me of cheating, so i stopped playing. i didnt understand on how one shotting with a car-15 was cheating oh well

i mean the game can't be that hard for an old school CS vet? once i learned the game mechanis/gui at least..?

the probaly is, the gameplay is not the same. there is no jumping in R6. you cant shoot through the walls. You cant pick up someone elses gun. its alot slower paced. i cant say the maps are bigger, but some are huge...like playing on "oil" or "AV" where players were banned from going on lower levels. and even then it was too much. this is where the original killhouse came from 🙂. But like the other guy said. Grab yourself a copy and go to town.

i think its cheap on amazon. but im not sure the compatibility on Windows 7..GOG.com has it for 9.99 and says it is compatible with Win7

Yup, bought and confirmed. GOG is quite reliable, just so you know. If they say it runs on Win7, then it runs on Win7.

And... damn, this is the most hardcore shooter I've ever played. Granted, Rainbow 6 is a little before my time, so I guess I missed out. Comparing this, and the newer games developed by Ubisoft Montreal, it's like night and day. What happened to the complexity and awesomeness of the older Tom Clancy games?

Pretty sure Red Storm doesn't exist anymore. It was Clancy's company and I think they were bought out by Ubisoft which is why Ubisoft has all the rights to R6, Ghost Recon, and all the other crap they attach the Tom Clancy name to.
