Yeah, look at me avoiding it!

Sorry for the mixup, I should have worded it differently.

Exactly.

Get this straight, sparky, YOU don't get to TELL me what or what not to do in any way, shape, or form.[/quote]

I'm just warning you, that these posts, coupled with your colourful PMs constitute harrassment. I have asked you to stop talking to me. This is the second time I'll ask you. Please stop.

I explained everything. Notice you're the only one having a problem understanding. Move on already, it's not a big deal! :p

Returning to the OP, an older used M3 with some miles isn't a great daily driver. Maintenance and repairs will almost definitely be your undoing. Old m3s are meant to live in a climate controlled garage and be preserved. :D

My point exactly:

The idea in my post was to go for a comparison that was laughably untrue. You kinda lost that in your post. :p

When it comes down to it, a Subaru is a better built, better designed car than a Lamborghini. Sure, you'd be a fool to have a Subaru instead of a Lamborghini if you could afford it, but still... :p

Sideways? ;)

My 95 325i can't even make it up the hump to my driveway from a standstill. It needs a push unless it comes in with some speed.

Its all in the technique.

there is a lot of misinformation in this thread. I test drove an 04 STi and ended up buying a 97 M3. Reason....I always wanted an M3, it was an awesome color, had 38k miles, and it was $12k cheaper than the STi. Even though the STi is AWD, you still need to buy snow tires and rims. The stock tires it comes with have no grip in the snow/ice, and marginal traction in the rain.

The M3 is my daily driver.
As far as RWD cars go, the M3 is fine in the snow. I live in Utah and we had well over 100" of snow last year. There were parking lots and stuff I couldn't enter at times due to my car being low to the ground, but anything except a truck would have had a difficult time in those areas. I took my car into the snowy mountains on several occasions to ski with no issues. The car has outstanding weight balance. I wasn't even using real snow tires. I have Toyo Proxes FZ4's which are all seasons. Any car with summer tires is going to suck in the snow. Being RWD, it is easy to lose control in the snow if you don't know what you're doing or you drive like an idiot, but the same can be said of an H1...

Maintenance is a little issue. So far, I've replaced my rear shock mounts(preventative($90, 45 minutes of DIY)), one of my wheel speed sensors needs replacing, my passenger seat belt buckle needs replacing, need to perform Inspection II(spark plugs/fluid flushes), my guibo is starting to shred, and I need a new clutch(own fault) It isn't bad if you can do your own work like I've been. The dealers are getting something like $140 / hour for service now...

Your M3 may be good in snow, but it is also a 100hp less then the E46. I had nothing but drama with my E46 in snow, as it would break traction consistantly in icy/snowy conditions. Perhaps it is a power/torque issue, but nonetheless, the M3 (at least the E46) was not meant to be driven in icy/snowy conditions. I drove mine all winter long in the swiss alps, back and forth from Germany to Italy before shipping it back to the US, and trust me when I say that even with the DSC turn on, it was a chore.

And the 540i? LOL A 540i says "I cheaped out and regret not getting a M5 or RS6!"

... I can only assume that your M3 was a CSL then?

An M5 or an RS6 would require me to have one car instead of two, and is beyond the financial capability of most people on these boards.

No
Interior

Sorry about the pic, but if you look close you can see the shifter.

Exterior

All E46 M3's come with 6-speed manual standard, unless you want the SMG II. Do some research.

FVCKING nice car dude!

My friend when we were in halls at Uni had an M3 convertible. Was SO sweet.
