Any Doctors?

Before anyone says I should go see a doctor: I will but I have to wait for my insurance to kick in 🙁

For months now, I have been experiencing this weird ache, dull pain under my left ribcage that sometimes goes to my back. It is not a sharp pain; its more of an uncomfortable ache. Its hard to explain. It feels as though I have a small lump under the ribs that hurts if I press on it. When it is really aching, sometimes it bothers me more if I lay on that side, and sometimes it feels better. Early on I use to have an ache like this lower down and I had a laproscopy done to see if I have endometriosis. I did not. I have had tons of blood work done months ago, and nothing came up. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Im getting worried 🙁 By the way, if you havent noticed, I am a female. Thanks for any help 🙂

I had something like that except on my right side. It was behind my ribs and at the bottom. I finally figured out that it went away when I started sitting right and wasn't slumped over playing video games for hours at a time. It might be totally unrelated to what you have, but it sounds similar.

I do not sit too much during the day. I always tend to sit correctly. i dont know what it is. It just feels very sore 🙁

Tell Oniq to be a little 'gentler' 🙂 Maybe put a pillow under your chest......:Q

Could haves Might haves etc can be scary in medicine.

Could be Chrons, could be sleeping wrong......could be a bruised rib, etc...

I have gotten a ton of 'pains' that were nothing....once your insurance kicks in get the real story.

It almost feels like something is bruised. It feels sore like I hurt something.

Ill tell oniq to be more gentle 🙂

I'd go to a hospitol Urgent Care without your ID or SSN, and try to get in on Medicare. Tell them you live ont he street, my dad was told by a Doc in South Texas that people do it all the time, not like they can refuse help I guess.

I've heard of other people having similar symptoms and doctors being unable to figure out what it is. In the past my doctor has thought it was due to acid indigestion, IBS, and other things. He gave me different pills and none worked.

Ovarian Cyst?

Splenomegaly multiple causes.

U need a CT scan/MRI in the future, it can prob wait till insurance kicks in

When the ache was lower, I had an ultrasound down and they found fluid around my ovary consistant with the burst of an ovarian cyst. But now its too high to be an ovarian cyst.

It could be Splenomegaly. But unfortunetly an enlarged spleen is due to another problem, and who knows what that problem is.. 🙁

Without a history, examination, and diagnostic tests it's pretty much impossible to tell. It could be a variety of different things. I wouldn't feel safe having anyone try and diagnose something like this over the internet. Though, as dethman so bluntly stated, I'm not near the best we have here. I am indeed a noobie in the medical field with only 2 years experience.

Problem with abdominal discomfort (or chest discomfort) is that the nerves aren't distributed as they are in your skin where you can localize the pain/injury, that's why the internal medicine docs make the big $.

PSA: If you have weird abdominal pain or some oddball discomfort, go to an internal medicine doctor, they're the pit bulls of the hospital😉 You won't have any blood left after all the lab tests & you may glow in the dark from all the imaging studies, but they'll figure out what ails you.

LMAO! I love that description.

Me = surgeon (in real life!)

If youve got a discrete mass under your ribs that causing your pain you should probably have it looked at, sooner rather than later but if you have to wait for insurance to kick in then go ahead.

Without actually examining it, I cant really give you any good information. Does the pain change with your menstrual cycle (breast neoplasms), eating (gall bladder, though the location is odd), exercise (cardiac, aneurysms), breathing (lung pathology, rib infections/inflammation/neoplams), etc... The spleen rarely ever has discrete nodules that cause pain, and I dont think the spleen itself even has pain fibers to it. Have you had any hiccups (lesions that contact the diaphragm)? It might be a simple calcified perihilar lymph node, but then a reason for you to have that would need to be undertaken.

It's hard to diagnose people over the internet but the number one cause of chest pain is costochondritis, a simple self limited cartilage inflammation. Anyway, see your doctor ASAP, Im sure they can help you out.

General or specialist?

General surgery intern now (so truthfully I do more paperwork than surgery) but I start Ortho next year. Come to me with all your bone related complaints!

PSA: See a surgeon after the internal medicine doc refers you😉

(I'm not a Dr, but have been a hospital based RN for ~20 years.)

We're all available for further consultation, but you'll need a webcam & a wet t-shirt😀
