House Democrats propose $410B spending bill

WOW... just wow. Wasn't there a thread about predicting when the next massive bill would come? Anyway, I am shocked(but not surprised) that the libs would continue to pork up the Fed spending so soon after the messiah took office. Seems to me they know people disliked the porkulus bill so they are trying to sneak another (smaller) bill through knowing full well that in a few months they wouldn't have the political capital to do such - atleast not on the scale of porkulusI.

Fiscal discipline... yeah right. These people are making Bush and the R's spending over the last 8 years look like child's play and they are barely a month into it.

It loosens restrictions on travel to Cuba, as well as the sale of food and medicine to the communist island-nation.

In another change, the legislation bans Mexican-licensed trucks from operating outside commercial zones along the border with the United States.

I dont see those as bad things, but more spending? sheesh! enough already

Yeah saw this this morning. GWB's massive spending is quickly falling out of sight and being eclipsed. 2-4 years from now we will WISH for his spending.

Do you believe Bush or if elected McCain wouldn't be spending this kind of money now?

Err how is Obama gonna cut the deficits by half with this kind of stuff?

On the flipside, yay for travel to Cuba!

Democrats defended the spending increases, saying they were needed to make up for cuts enacted in recent years or proposed a year ago by then-President George W. Bush in health, education, energy and other programs

So when Bush was in office the complaint from these people was he spent too much. Now he is out the complaint is he didnt spend enough.

This is the FY09 spending bill that was supposed to be completed before Oct 01, 2008. Congress (the last one) failed to complete it on time and decided to shelve it until after the new Congress was seated.

Irrelevant because neither are in power right now. Obama and Democrats are and they are spending at rates that make Bush look like a god damned fiscal conservative.

This is not anything to get upset over really. It really isn't much compared to last years.
The big thing is what each senator tries to sneak in with it. At least it isn't a bailout.
The ?omnibus? spending package unveiled today by House Democrats would combine nine annual appropriations bills left over from last year that are needed to fund programs such as NASA and the national parks through September, the end of the fiscal year. Total spending on the programs would grow by $32 billion, or about 8.5 percent, from last year.

Yeah, this is the bill the Dems shelved until after the election because Bush said he would veto it.

Would there be outrage if they were?

By using the same logic Bush did: spend a shitload of your money, then half a shitload later on and say you cut it in half.

I guess Obama wants to make sure half is easy to reach using that logic.

And that changes what? Oh that's right... nothing.

I can't wait for the pork report on this one. It'll likely be a healthy chunck of it from the way it reads now and you know there is likely more yet to uncover.

Probably more so as it they would be blamed as the reason it needs to be spent.

Superman was polled yesterday at the Justice League Headquarters. He said he would propose more bailouts.

Emperor Palpatine recommended we shoot it with lasers instead of bailing out.

Jesus Christ did not return our phone calls.

Oh, sorry, I thought we were talking about hypothetical situations... "What Would McCain Do?" sort of thing.

The difference is McCain's real, the other three aren't.

Does this kind of bill normally happen? I mean it's not technically an extra stimulus one is it?

BTW here is the "next stimulus" thread.

There are many differences comparing McCain to Obama and yet you hint that they would both have the same solution. Has McCain been officially polled? Until that happens, it remains an act of faith and belief that McCain would promote bailouts or not.

Oh, I thought it was a "spending" bill guess but that's about the next "stimulus". OH well, ignore the part in the OP about the "next" thing then. :)

McCain voted against the porkulus so isn't that "officially polled"?
