We just enjoy self-fulfilling prophecies. And we celebrate people who succesfully live their life's work.

One line he even said he didn't want to fight, he wanted to find a woman to have sex with. I bet you'd still say he deserved to be shot, or was asking for it due to his lyrics. Never mind they're not about anything other than a dude bragging about his money, how much he drinks and getting pussy. Lame lyrics, but hardly hardcore.

Google the lyrics for "Feelin' Myself," where he brags about shooting people and "duckin' investigators." If you want to see the depths of his lyrical stupidity, check out "Good Pussy" instead.

I am not necessarily anti-rap. To me there's been a lot of great rap music over the years, with musical and lyrical merit (though admittedly not much of it is very recent). Unfortunately I think nearly all current rap is pure shit - the music is inane and simplistic and the lyrics do nothing more than glorify violence, demean women and boast about money and worldly belongings. Dolla was a musically worthless, shit-talking little punk who apparently pissed off the wrong people. I'm not a fan of, say, the Jonas Brothers, but they don't inflict the kind of harm that douchebags like Dolla do, and I can't seriously pretend to give a crap about his death.

The kid has tatoos and is a rapper, so therefore some of you are glad he died? You guys realize most rappers are just projecting an image, and they're pretty much normal people, right?

Another dead rapper?

The more the merrier.

yes, I have an intense hatred for rap and the lifestyle it portrays.

Oh look, a 70 year old CC student, GL on your path to nowhere, jackass.

why thank you for your kind words. Have you moved out of your mom's basement yet?

Oh man, the "mom's basement" insult, if that wasn't literally posted in every other thread in ATOT I might take offense to that!

Unfortunately, these rappers serve as role models. The image they project is a negative one. The image they project has profound negative effects on a portion of our society. We're better off without them. Good riddance.

Yes they in a sense "serve" as role models. But it's not any different than violent video games, movies, or TV shows, are they? You're essentially saying that getting rid of rap would some how improve society; something I find laughable.

If you actually think rap is able to negatively affect a portion of our society (young, black, urban kids) and then subsequently ignore the mass amount of violence in videos games/movies/etc and the influence they should be having is something I don't quite understand. I mean by your logic, why aren't all the rich white kids constantly listening to rap going around murdering people, blinging their shit up, and all around being a menace to society?

I also don't have gangster tattoos and I don't praise the rap/thug/gangster lifestyle. I don't sing about women as if they're just vaginas and I don't call my friends 'niggaz'. I don't carry a chip on my shoulder everywhere I go to show how hard I am.

I also don't live in the hood, because I've worked my entire life to have my nice little life.

Pimpjuice points out one really good thing: not everyone has the same opportunities. However, it's what you DO with your opportunities that defines who you are. When you choose to "get ahead" by being a thug - robbing, dealing, whatever - then you're perpetuating the shithole, condemning the next generation to grow up the same way.

Instead, have a little pride in yourself. Help clean up your neighborhood, stay in school and learn something. Avoid the gangs. It's not easy, but neither is giving in - and giving in has a far higher price.

As for shunning rap - I actually like the flavor of the music, but the culture that surrounds the uglier end of it, I can do without. Not all rap is created equal, and not all of it's offensive. What I've now seen of his is useless.
