I disagree. They have lots of standards. They just don't enact them properly. As mentioned above if the judges looked carefully at the tape, they would get very accurate scores. I don't know why this isn't done except maybe for the time it would take, which is certainly about the same as the time they take sometimes anyway when the pick up the bat phone and ask adam west what score to give because they fell asleep.

I think Nemov's routine was incredibly impressive. You may say he is just doing releases, but every release is a huge risk, and he did 6 of those. And he didn't just do "simple releases" like Hamm did. He did 4 of those and 2 very complex releases if I recall correctly. I could see why the Italian won it, but Nemov was a lot more impressive than Hamm. And both didn't stick the landing, so I think Nemov was robbed. If the judges could go step by step and explain their deductions, that would help. I don't know much about the scoring, but even the announcer was saying he got lowballed. I think the judges got what their deserved, 10 minutes of booing and looking like deer in the headlights.

actually no, if you watched the coverage last night, they actually talked about how the judges also screwed up the *penalty* points for the korean (he didn't get penalized for something that he did). so, if his performance were to be re-scored, the starting point will be higher, but his penalty will also be higher, which balanced out the score.
Not quite balanced. He should have started +0.1 higher, but gotten a -0.2 deduction. Thus a rescore would give him even lower points. It wouldn't even balance.

Yes, but the judges missing the fact that the South Korean had to many hold in his program is subjective. Like an Umpire missing a strike, or a Refree calling a penalty. Unfortunately thats sports. You start having video replays, you open up a whole new can of worms.

The fact that He should have started +0.1 higher, but gotten a -0.2 deduction is a mathematical error. He shouldn't be penalized for that.

My two cents worth
