WTF is this @sshole still a cop? There are two types of cops: those that do it because they believe in law or maintaining order and those retarded guys who couldn't get into college and were the bullies

Most police officers are required to have at least an associates degree to even apply for the job.

Really?

So posting the link to one listing of one sheriff's department makes my statement false?

How many do you need? I could probably pull up some from most states

Fine fine. In most places with a high population, you need at least an associates degree. But feel free to search for those.

I know for a fact, NYC, Nassau County, and Suffolk County all require at least 60 college credits (basically an associates).

You're an idiot... we live in a free country... you can say your opinion outloud about the police and they can't do anything about it... it's a free country. The cop did not have sufficient evidence to make an arrest.... he had no warrant, and he had no just cause. If we lived in a society where the cops could for any reason at any time threaten you with weapons, and arrest you, we would live in a bad society indeed. This cop was a criminal in every definition of the word. He should have been fired, and frankly he should have been found guilty of assault. He should be put in jail just like everyone else who breaks the law. Maybe in Captainsland, rude people should get beat up for being rude... but out here in the real world where the rest of us live, there is no question as to who the criminal is in these circumstances.

60 hours is the minimum requirement for an associates, you're probably thinking of a bachelor's degree.

So I guess it's hit or miss for the requirements. Living in NY must've spoiled me with their requirements. And remember, these are the bare minimums for even applying.

EDIT:

Washington DC requires 60 credit hours.

No they aren't. High School Diploma or GED is typically all that's required.

[edit]

But there do appear to be exceptions. However, I believe thet HSD/GED is the rule rather than the exception.

Being born and raised and DC, I would think that when they 60 credit hours, based on the intelligence of DCMPD they mean 60 hours of kindergarten...

Cops are only there when they're getting you in trouble for something stupid, or after the damage is already done.

Shh... I think he's trying to say something.

Anyway, the girl acted like a complete idiot. BUT, legally, she didn't do anything that wasn't within her rights. The cop, on the other hand, should have been fired for conduct unbecoming of an officer and he should have been charged with assault.

But like I said, this is all just par for the course for cops in Ohio. Check out Chief Jackson, Columbus Chief of Police. You want to see a real retard at the helm, observe him for 5 minutes.

Living in Nassau County, I'm probably influenced by their requirements. Basically, it's impossible to get a job for Nassau County PD unless you know somebody, are ex-military, or have all sorts of "points." Anything less than a Bachelor's degree and they throw your application out. Starting salary is $55k+. Within 5 years, with over-time, you can make $100k+.

Brandy is awesome. If every citizen knew their rights like her, the police would be forced to behave a little better. Instead, they act like childish scum just waiting to pick a fight.

The reason cops are so horrible now is because society is not being vigilant enough.

I am more scared of cops than anyone else in society because there are so many bad cops...

My experiences with police:

1. Friends and I get chased by a drunk driver for nearly an hour (called 911 after 10 minutes). Police start questioning details of dispatcher acting like 'us kids' are making up a story. After forty-five minutes of pleading with the dispatcher and my friend saying his cell phone battery is dying (while dispatcher relays story to unbelieving police), they send an officer. Yay.. they pull over the drunk driver and we are saved.

2. Cop pulls me over saying I was going 71 in a 45. I was going 60. 71 was 1mph over necessary 70mph for double the fine.

3. Cop pulls me over for going 77mph in a 70mph. Says I was going 82. Makes me wait 30 minutes and then lets me go without a ticket or anything.

4. Cop pulls my friend over while I was in the car. Friend was going 45mph in a 45mph zone. Cop says she was going "around 60mph". I asked for the cop's badge number. He yelled at me and told me to get out of the car. So, I get out of the car and he says I should not have got out of the car and getting out of the car is a threat to him. So he slams me against the car while holding my arms against my back so my chin hits the hood of the car and tells me not to 'fvck with him'. Then he pats me down and says 'this is for my own safety.' He still didn't give me his badge number and instead said to find it out myself.

5. Cop taps me on the kneecap with knightstick while he was kicking everyone out of a party. Fvcking hurt for a week.

6. Four 'good ol' boy' cops break up a neighbor's party decked out in cowboy hats and boots. They yelled and cussed at everyone like they were just trying to start fights. They were in everyone's faces just trying to provoke violence.

7. Cops kick in my friend's locked door for another party in high school. House was locked.. they had no warrant, no threat, no noise complaint. They just saw a lot of cars outside.

8. Cop yells at a girl at Barnie's in front of me for not giving him a free Barnie's Freezer that he ordered. The Barnie's Freezer normally costs $4.50. The manager comes up to her and says it's not worth making a scene and hands the cop his Freezer.

9. Cop comes and kicks us out of our own jacuzzi in our apartment complex for drinking beer outside. When we point out that the only one of us that was underrage wasn't drinking, he says he's being nice by not taking us all to jail for 'open container'.

10. Cop busts my friend for a DUI for sleeping in his car outside of a party while his keys were still in the apartment. He decided not to drive home drunk.. so he gets a DUI. He finally got it expunged after 3 months of parole, getting alcohol-tested twice a week at his expense for 3 months, and spending about 80 hours of his time dealing with his incompetent public defender. He gets no record from this except for when you search his name on the internet, an arrest for a DUI shows up.

11. At a UF football game, after buying a $4 soda, a cop decides he needs to 'smell my soda for alcohol content'. I see the tips of his nose hairs and his sweaty nose touch my soda. So, I bought another $4 soda. Couldn't make myself drink it even though I was thirsty as hell.

So ya.. I don't like cops much. I just seem to get the scummy ones.
