While we are bitching about popped collars I thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention.

A recent addition to nightlife is the prevalence of the vertical striped button up on men.

Now let me just say I am a big fan of button ups when I am going out whtehr they are striped/checkered/solid color I love button ups and always have.

Now it seems that the masses have been awakened to the growing trend that guys should be wearing vertical striped shirts. Ok this is great, they make you look taller and thinner perfect! WRONG!

PSA: JUST BECAUSE IT HAS VERTICAL STRIPES DOES NOT MAKE IT FASHIONABLE!!!!!!!

Every company in the world is making vertical striped shirts for men now. You cannot just buy one and think you are now "in". Buying a vertical striped shirt is a complicated process taht should not be rushed.

You should throughly investigate all your options regarding the stripes colors, widths and fabrics.

You should not go cheap here.

If you want to rock a vertical stripe shirt I recommend you dont buy it at AE, Abergay or old navy. In order to stand out in a flock of men wearing vertical stripe shirts your going to need an extra edge! My recommendation if you are not fashion savvy is to head over to an upscale department store and ask for help!!! They will piont you in the direciton of some of the nicer button up collections availble.

Ok make your comments now.

bye.

my style ever since sophomore year in hs is to wear button up shirts. I've been doing it ever since then, until now (senior year in college). no matter the design. I have a old navy vertical stripped one that my gf picked out for me. I used to wear expensive button up shirts, but old navy is A LOT cheaper!!!! i'd rather pay 20 bucks for one, then 50 bucks for a similar design w/ different material.

Whatever works for you. I would personally would hate to go out with a freshly pressed shirt just to find out that 5 other dudes have virtually the same one on.

If you refer to shirts as "button-ups" you lose your right to complain about gay fashion trends...

I bet if you include your wedding band, I'd have you beat. This is including all of my removeable attire (tattoos not included) but not including electronics (phone, pda)

Shoes: $50 - Sketchers from Kohls
Short sleeve button up shirt: $8 - Kohls clearance sales rule
Pants $13 - Wal-Mart slacks!
Reversible black/brown belt - $15
Underwear + socks came in multi packs, so i would guess MAYBE $8 for both
Wedding band: $25 (we bought a set off ebay for $50 back in 1999)
Wallet that has "Bad Motherfvcker" on it: $15
Squirt of gel in hair: $0.10

Grand total of everything I have on: $134.10
