I saw this guy the other day with a hilarious t-shirt. It said: GOD NEVER LOSES. I guess he just shows up on loser's t-shirts.

Hey Flyermax2k3, here are some good quotes from the book you hold as fact. It seems to have a few contradictions to say the least:

ON SEEING GOD
"... I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." -- Genesis 32:30

"No man hath seen God at any time..."-- John 1:18

ON THE POWER OF GOD
"... with God all things are possible." -- Matthew 19:26

"...The LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron." -- Judges 1:19

ON DEALING WITH PERSONAL INJURY
"...thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. " -- Exodus 21:23-25

"...ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." -- Matthew 5:39

ON RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD
"...he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. " -- Job 7:9

"...the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth...." -- John 5:28-29

I think the Lord should get his facts straight before he puts out a book. ;)
Repeat after me: "Allegory".

Many of the stories told and the explanations of the way things work in the Bible are, I believe, to some degree allegorical. I believe that there is a good bit of historical fact in the Bible, but there are numerous places in which I believe the accounts are allegorical. Remember, God was explaining Himself to people who didn't understand something as simple as rainfall.

And your quote from Judges, it's Judah who is acting.

ZV
So you are saying it is pointless to quote scripture since it is inaccurate? Now we are getting somewhere.

P.S. The first one doesn't count.

Boy, that's pretty sick dude...

What about the statement "you and I do not share the same religion" do you not understand? Be disturbed all you like, the fact remains that my "religion" comes directly from the Bible. Where do you get yours?

I understand it - it's the exact statment I said already that you keep parroting back to me.
Anyway, you seem to have gotten a bum copy of the Bible. I'd loan you mine, but I'm afraid you will misinterpret the hell out of it (pun intended).

Flyermax2k3, if you have truly accepted the Messiah foretold to Eve in the Garden, then we'll meet in eternity. We'll both realize then that there were SOOOO many things that we both were mistaken about and we'll both be glad to know the truth.

In the meantime.... you might find that you would do better in life to back off somewhat from the extreme legalism which it looks like you tend towards. I myself tend to be legalistic sometimes because I'm a very black and white person... but the Annointed One of the Lord wasn't... at least not by our standards. He of course TRULY knew what was good and what was bad and called it such... but things that people thought were great He often blasted and things that people who were often outcasts and considered bad He called friend.

I'm not going to debate Christology, Theology, Numerology or any other 'ologies on this thread because that isn't what this thread was started for and it's inappropriate here. I will however say that often in life we spend so much time and energy wanting to be right about something that we end up worshipping our beliefs and thinking that we're worshipping God.... we've all done it and we've ALL got to guard against it. Is it more important that someone spell Jesus a certain way or that like the theif on the cross, they get the message any way they can so that they might be saved?

Joe

Yeah, but that one is kind of weak. I like the slap in the face kind of humor. :)

You mean like the two Darwin fish humping each other? Bumper stickers = ghey

I've not seen that sticker before.

Directly from the Bible?
So, exactly how often do you stone non-believers to death? If none, you'd best get busy. And burn down their villages too while you're at it.

That's version 1.0. Version 1.1.24.58231 SP2 is due out soon. Didn't you know that Microsoft wrote the Bible?

would have to see the original text in Hebrew before I would accept those as contradictions. Meanings change over thousands of years and many translations. Your last two "contradictions" however, are not contradictory if you take into account the fact that the OT passages were written under the contract of the Mosaic Laws, without true knowledge of the plan of salvation through Yeshua. This does not mean the Mosaic Laws were invalidated by Yeshua as some would have you believe, Yeshua himself stated that he came to affirm the law, not break it.

So, do you have an original, unmodified, mint condition version of the Bible then from way back when?

I find all of those disgusting (including the cross one). Idolatry is strictly forbidden by the first and second commandments.

Yeah, and Harry Potter says that witchcraft is real.

Either believe both works of fiction or believe neither.

Last I checked cruxifiction had a cross bar...the thing is you usually were not nailed to the damn thing. They just tie you to it by wrists and ankles.

You don't last long enough to starve to death....sometimes you do die early from thirst...but mainly it has to do with tiring of the diaphram which is required to draw in breath.

In the first stage you can push up with you feet and take a breath...then you collapse....you have to keep repeating this to breathe. Eventually your lungs fill with water and you go into cardiac arrest.

Sometimes you get lanced with a spear to hurry the process along (like say they needed the field nearby for a festivity....hard to be festive for some people seeing another suffer).

That's cruxifiction in a nutshell, wasn't reserved just for Jesus or the other 2 guys.

More than likely while you can argue Jesus wasn't white, it's hard to say he was Black (and the usual of African descent people try to claim). I am willing to bet he was dark skinned though.

Also another not...none of the words in the Bible are Jesus's....they are all translations of translations of translations....plus each being transcribed by hand several hundreds of times.

We can play a game like this now.....take a very popular english book, have someone handcopy it a few dozen times, then have someone German translate one of those copies, repeat the transcription, now give it to an Italian....keep going through a couple more languages.

Now I am willing to bet the general idea more or less is the same...however I am willing to bet there will be several passages and topics totally wrong and in the worst case of opposite meaning.

I thought they normally broke your legs so you couldn't pull yourself up to breathe, and being speared was another part of Jesus's special treatment?
