Height might not matter, but strength certainly does. One of the main reasons that modern ships are staffed so near nineteenth century levels is to provide damage control parties, where strength may mean the difference between a trapped sailor being rescued or burning to death. Another is to provide manual replacements for failed automated systems. How long would you judge that lovely little lady could manhandle 100+ lb 5" shells? How much help would she be in maneuvering torpedoes or depth charges? Our rush to ensure that all women, not just the physically exceptional, can qualify for all positions has led us to gut our military's standards.
