Why are schools inviting such an extremist to talk to students?

What good would come of that?

She is outrageous.

We got her because it kept the neocon's, young american's for freedom, and college republicans from whining for a week and a half.
i get a kick out of how everyone thinks Republicans back Coulter. just because Dems loathe her doesn't automatically make Repubs in her camp.

ya, seriously.

i dont really like her, and i'm a republican.

I'd go...she'd probably be entertaining to listen to. for a liberal though, it'd probably be the equivalent of me seeing a speech from hugo chavez.

I go to a school that voted overwhelming to name a new dining hall the Stephen Colbert Dining Facility :D

And they say liberalism isn't being taught in our schools... go figure :)

who says liberalism isnt being taught in schools?

i think the point is conservativism isnt being taught in schools. unfortunately, schools seem to pick the most controversial people they can to do speeches.

tbh, neither political philosophy should be taught in anything but a political science class...

I love how people get all giddy because "she says what everyone else thinks." No one with half a brain thinks like her. Reading this thread is reminiscent of a third grade classroom where all the kids laugh and cheer the kid who runs around with his pants down because "he's the only one cool enough to do it." Grow the hell up.

And to reply to the OP, don't go. Any attention, whether it is positive or negative, is still attention, which is the last thing you want to give an publicity whore like Coulter.

Unfortunately there's a mandatory coat check and you're not allowed to take anything in with you. Any ideas of what to do or say during the "Q&A"?

If you know anyone that is going take them all to a park and have a picnic. In other words ignore Ann Coulter.

I love Ann Coulter! I admit, she's out there, but it's part of her schtick. Her purpose on this earth is to be a voice for conservatism. She's chosen to be somewhat controversial about it, to be heard. If she was as non-contoversial as the head of the Republican Party (I don't know who it is either...that's my point), then she wouldn't be heard. Maybe she goes TOO far, and distorts her message. But I like her.

If you love Ann Coulter, then you must be a liberal, because all she does is make herself and the conservative movement look idiotic.

Nah, I consider myself pretty intelligent, and I don't think she makes the conservative movement look idiotic. I wish more conservatives had the guts to say what she does. It's refreshing. I don't care who it offends. I'm tired of this PC world, where offending someone is as harsh a crime as murder. I say, offend and be prepared to be offended. Who cares?

I have no doubt you consider your self "pretty intelligent", just like I have no doubt as to how severely deluded you are - just because you say or like someone else who says un-PC things does not make you intelligent. In your case, lionising Coulter just makes you look like retarded hate filled bigot who has swapped any semblance of reasonable thought for idiotic, outrageous remarks.

Probably the most retarded thing I've been to in a while. All she did was say how liberals were the scum of society, "Godless," and everything else she could say. Everytime someone asked her a valid question she would just call them a liberal and move on.

Someone asked her since she recently was quoted calling someone a lovely human if she would ever consider calling a black person the N word, to which she called him a "racist liberal" (even though the audience was going BATSHIT INSANE.)

Well that sounds like a complete waste of time (in other words: par the course for ann).

My favorite was how she twisted the quagmire in Iraq as the Dems fault. Something like it was the Dems who said there were WMDs there and thus we are in Iraq now because of them.

I don't know, she doesn't have a true sense of reality.

I think politics would be a hell of a lot more interesting if they all just said exactly what they were thinking.

but that would required an informed, intelligent opinion. there's no room in politics for that :p
