Conservative commentator Ann Coulter said Wednesday that her planned speech at the University of California at Berkeley this week was canceled amid mounting concerns about potentially violent protests.

"My proposed Free Speech Week will proceed as planned later this year. I WILL BRING AN ARMY IF I HAVE TO. We will ensure that Ann and others can speak and we will publicly, ritually humiliate UC Berkeley for its failure to meet its legal obligations until conservative speakers no longer fear violent mobs just for exercising their First Amendment rights."

On the flip side, these far left folks are basically all Humanities students with no job prospects, so maybe they should get their safe space to riot. Companies in tech and engineering are already hiring straight out of high school as they've realized college isn't that useful a proxy for intelligence anymore, so they've started to dispense the pretense.

It's not that people at Berkeley are afraid of ideas they disagree with, although I don't think the violence helps their case at all. It's that they're not willing to put up with hateful, vacuous crap trying to masquerade as legitimate through a university talk.
