Not when the information contains specifics that WILL INEVITABLY lead to death and making a mission so much more difficult.

...

I'll shoot him myself if i get the chance.

Frankly, if the information would lead to your death, I'd crack open a bottle of bubbly and toast Assange. You're a far more dangerous person to keep alive than he is.

No, I don't fit your liberal templates.

Quite right, you're the worst kind of "liberal." The kind that believes in the infallibility of government, checks and balances be damned. As long government appears to be doing what you want on the surface, you don't care who they have to kill or torture along the way.

There will always be rape. Hell, I get raped every single paycheck I get. Which is explained by your politics.

The point is, if there is a rape to happen, this would have been entertaining to watch.

And now you trivialize rape by using is for your 'I don't wanna pay tax' whine.

No, you said you preferred you had been entertained by his rape trial instead of the rape not happening.

What the hell does 'there will always be rape' have to do with it? You sound like a psychopath frankly with no appreciation that it's not a game to amuse you.

It would be more of a sociopath, just for clarification.

The point is : if there is going to be a rape, this would be the more interesting one to watch due to the rabid fervor you and the other side would have over it. There will always be rapes and murders, etc. Some are more interesting to watch than others (the aftermath, that is). This would have been one of those occasions. Sorry, I gave you too much credit to be able to figure out the intent and meaning. Next time I'll make sure I use smaller words.

From a guy who seems awfully sympathetic to child molesters, you really have no ground to argue the morality of me being entertained by anything.

We should have information like this, but redacted and summarized by people who understand what kinds of things put operations and peoples lives at risk.

The sad thing is that we probably wouldn't know how fucked up things are over there without the release, but it's still not Wikileaks call.

This is exactly why it was put on Wikileaks, and why it is a good thing it was. If either of the past two administrations had been anything close to forthright and honest regarding the situation that is costing us trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives, then I doubt there would have been a pressing "need" by whomever do release these documents. I mean, we would already have a pretty clear picture if that were the case.

The whole problem here is that the documents were classified not due necessarily to the sensitive tactical information, but because of the truth it tells of the situation we are in.

Of course, people like you don't give a shit about anyone but yourself so those informants, these soldiers, those bunkers, you don't give a fuck about that.

I'm trying to understand what good can come out of publishing those details that will inevitably lead to the death of NATO and ISAF troops along with a lot of civilians who only wanted to be free from opression.

I'm trying to understand that, explain that to me, will you?

You have it backwards. People who support the release of these documents (like myself) give a fuck about the soldiers, and only with the truth shining on this quagmire can we hope to pack up and leave.

As I stated earlier, only 3 informants were named, the rest were wiped clean by Wikileaks. Of the 3, one is dead and the other was a double agent working both sides. That leaves one informant. Regrettable to be sure, but Wikileaks did offer the White House to censor names and they refused. I think in the end, the release of these documents will save far more lives than the one informant it has put at risk.

I don't.

I support him on the leaks, but I have no idea what kind of person he is, and I think the accusations are vastly more likely to be real than some sort of setup.

I support a bullet in his head. Ask most in the military or former military what they think of this guy, you'll get the same response.

The CIA needs to handle this sooner than later...

Speaks pretty badly of our military.

Oh this creep has put bullets in more heads than you can imagine. And he now knows it and feels like shit for it.

And that will be his fate eventually. Although to be realistic, it could be a poisoning or disappearance.

I have enormous admiration for Julian Assange, I think he is a hero, and I just hope he is incredibly careful going forward. He really shouldn't ever risk being alone in a room with anyone. These women, for all we know, were operatives for the CIA or maybe Swedish intelligence services, and they probably had already infiltrated left wing swedish groups for several years, building up credibility as serious left-wing/ anti-war activists, and through that work gained an introduction to the Wikileaks people and access to Assange. Perhaps they had a consensual sexual encounter with Julian, and now it is their word against his. What a great way to destroy his reputation. Everything I've read about him suggests he is a kind, gentle guy. He was raised by a single mother, married young, is the father of two kids, and I just don't get the sense he is the type to rape anyone.

Also, to the terrifyingly aggressive soldier posting in this thread: you are the very reason so many civilians are deeply suspicious of the military. When you spout your blood thirsty rhetoric, it becomes easy for us to understand why you guys are killing so many civilians over in Afghanistan and Iraq - quite simply, you enjoy it, and you know you can get away with it.

yes, because it is perfectly acceptable for a member of the armed services to threaten the murder of a civilian on a public forum... Thanks.

I'm a civilian, but thanks for the promotion.

I guess we shouldn't expect more from you either. You probably shout "I support our troops" at the same time calling them deliberate murderers of civilians. Classy.

From another forum:

Nonsense said:
e: I heard that the Swedish prosecutor, Mary Hëljebo Kjell Strand, is being reported to an ombudsman.

Woah, do swedes actually hold their public officials accountable?

Sweden isn't the kind of country where the authorities would drum up false charges to silence a critic. If he's accused of rape, chances are he commited rape.

I gotta say, some of you guys are really really stupid. Not really surprised you guys wouldn't show your mug again after charges are dropped.

Also, a mod needs to change the title of this thread over the fact that the charges were bogus and were dropped.

My understanding was that the charges are still in place, the authorities just don't feel the seriousness of them justifes an arrest warrant??
