Maine has a split electoral system, that vote wasn't unfaithful. There was one guy from Maine that wanted to vote for Sanders but wasn't allowed to, however.

You do realize that people don't see reality as it is. They see it through the lenses of their political ideology.

That is why one person will look at a supposed "news" story totally differently than somebody else.

They are both looking at it with heavily biased views that are usually already formed. So in the end, whether it's a Democrat or Republican in charge, both sides will not see reality of the situation.

Mmmmm... Both Sides do it!

Up next, tax cut fever & smaller government (except for the military, obviously) which means fewer funds from wealthier blue states flowing into the federal treasury & less going out to poorer red states. I doubt they really planned for that when they voted for it.

Or Repubs will just go with "deficits don't matter" as during the Bush years.

Maine splits their electoral votes. 2 for the winner of the state-wide vote, 1 per congressional district. Trump won one congressional district in Maine.

Both were irrational. Remember that electors are mostly party loyalists. Expecting over 12% of GOP party loyalists to put their country first? Not going to happen.

I didn't support Trump or vote for him, but you party hacks with the hyperbole are pathetic. Have to be a faithless elector to put "country first"? Bullshit.

So far one Democratic delegate defected from Hillary and voted for Sanders.

It's not the Republican party that's in disarray people.

Hey, I got my two Trump defectors, I didn't comment on the others ;) I was pretty sure we'd at least see some from Washington, the Hamilton Foundation was pretty up front with their strategy.

Too bad none of those three Sanders votes stuck. Those and the one for Faith Spotted Eagle I'd count as real Democratic protest votes. The other three for Colin Powell were strategic votes from electors who probably personally would have preferred Clinton. The idea was to stack the ballot in the extremely remote chance that a bunch of Trump defectors couldn't agree on a candidate, saw their votes first and followed their lead, or abstained entirely. That would enable Powell to enter as the third choice in congress, where he'd arguably stand a better chance of being voted in than Hillary.

None of this went very far, but still pretty interesting. I think this might be the largest diversity of EVs in the history of the system (post 12th amendment)

What happens to those unfaithful voters?

The guy from TX got DOXXed pretty badly, Ashley Madison member while married with little kids, lied about having a job, lied about being a first responder during 9-11, there was a livestream of TX electors for about 3 hours, I kept seeing him completely ignored by everyone

And the largest number of dissident faithless electors in over a century were...drum roll please...Democrats. So I guess that means we are back to reforming the electoral college

No surprises that Democrats have the least integrity. I am ashamed for the 2 lying Texans since they don't have the honor to be ashamed of themselves.

CNN only reported Trumps unfaithful voters..

Well, what do you expect from CNN? ...

Which is exactly what their target audience wanted to hear. Truth? We don't need no stinkin' truth!
Awww, po' babies. Is that mean old media picking on you again? Time to flee to your safe space at Breitbart or Daily Caller, where you can get the affirmation you crave without being challenged by reality?

Oh, wait. /sniff . What's that smell? It smells like... BS: http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/19/politics/electoral-college-donald-trump-vote/
Donald Trump surpassed the necessary 270 votes in the Electoral College on Monday, taking the next step in the official process to become President.

Trump received 304 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton's 227. Seven "faithless" electors voted for other candidates, costing Trump two votes and Clinton four. Hawaii's votes -- three for Clinton and one breaking from the state's results and supporting Bernie Sanders -- were the last to be counted....
It's so much easier playing the victim when you just make it up. That's the first CNN link from Google.

Will be interesting to see in 2020 when Chelsea runs against Trump.

Not even as interesting as her mama. She'd better get a face transplant first. The Webb Hubbell look, or horse face, ain't gonna make it.

You have that backwards, my friend. The party hacks are those who voted for Trump because of the (R) behind his name. But, the problem with Trump is not that he is a Republican. The problem with Trump is that by any objective, rational standard, he is the single least suitable POTUS candidate ever nominated by a mainstream political party. Donnie is a career con-man, a cheat, a bully, a narcissist, a pathological liar, and an intellectual lightweight with the temperament of a spoiled toddler. He is also -- at best -- an unwitting stooge for one of America's most dangerous adversaries. He has no business being anywhere near the White House.

The Electoral College was intended to prevent someone like Trump from becoming President. It is responsible for stepping in when the American masses have been sucked into doing something reckless and foolish. Unfortunately, these electors failed. They failed to put America first, to stand up for what is right. They failed to uphold their constitutional responsibility. They could have voted for another Republican, any other Republican, and sent the House the message that Trump was not acceptable. Instead, they rubber stamped Donnie.

I think it's time to reconsider whether the Electoral College has any value for modern America. If it has become too partisan to fulfill its unique purpose, it is pointless overhead. Each state's electoral votes can be tallied on election night (or shortly thereafter) and a state official can certify them. There is no reason for the added expense and delay of the EC meetings.

Wow, CNN actually reported facts instead of spin.
