So, what are some guesses on what will happen?

Maybe we'll see something like 2-3 Trump defectors (to another Republican, not Hillary). Far from enough to change anything, but enough to raise some eyebrows and generate more discussion.

A lot of people talk about faithless electors as cheating the system but their function was very much intended by the constitution, which is still held as something of a sacred document to many. Issues like this could change how people think of the constitution and how the difficult it is to modify it.

"drumpf-fluffers vindictive, petty little twatwaffles" says a Democrat in this thread.

They're accepting of cultures that want to enforce sharia law in our country, but don't dare disagree with their politics.

Actually, I'm wrong, there's a small number that are very vocal that do that.

There's a reason that the Framers made it so difficult to change and why partisans like fskimo try to do end runs around the Constitution and pass suspect legislation.

no, you're right, there's been zero gloating, posturing, etc from the drumpf-flufflers here. They've all been somber, and mature in the drumpf victory, respecting others, and not lording it over peoples heads. Yup, just like drumpf.

L FUCKING O L
I do not support ANY fucking religion pushing their agenda into our laws in any way, whether it's christian, buddhist, jewish, muslim, wiccan, etc. And should a culture want to do that, they'd be met with resistance.

You act as if this forum began with the Trump victory and not as if we didn't get a chance to read your posts in the years leading up to it.

Your concern troll mask is slipping, be careful! When you say things like 'sharia law' you're totally outing yourself as a crazy conservative.

Remember, your character is supposed to be a disaffected Democrat who just wishes the party would return to its roots.

Did I gloat over the Obama victory? I probably said I was happy he won, and hoped he could bring the country together, but considering the assholes in congress openly pushed back against anything he tried to pass, it made it a little hard to pass the olive branch, so to speak.

I don't remember anyone saying they were happy Obama won because it made conservatives angry. Maybe someone did somewhere but it was certainly rare. imported_tajmahal doesn't seem to realize how weird and sociopathic what he said really is.

yea, Obama is/was class personified. Eloquent, courteous and dealt with more bullshit than any president previously, and in trots drumpf, a classless trust-fund baby who gets into social media spats over the most insignificant issues.
I'm sure he'll be the modicum of dignity come Jan 20, 2017, right? All of those petty, petulant actions will fall away, right?
right???

It is kind of interesting that the outgoing president is one of the classiest people ever to occupy the office and he's being replaced by someone who has spent his whole life desperately trying and failing to project an image of class.

The EC preventing a Trump Presidency would be the best outcome given the lunacy of this election year. We probably still end up with a Republican, but perhaps one more pallatable.

And that's all that ever mattered to GOP voters. You never cared about facts or good policy, just winning and sticking it to liberals. It's okay though. You guys own the next 2-4 years. Will have to see if things turn sour quickly enough to affect 2018.
Last time I checked, no one here has a voice in government. What does ownership mean if one can't actually own anything?

On the other hand, we all, you included, get to live out the next 4 years for better or for worse. If things turn sour, they turn sour for you too.

but he has a gold toilet, and he's on his 3rd trophy wife, that's gotta mean he's classy, right?

Honestly, all Republicans are same to me, Trump, non-Trump, it's all same shit, just different face. The people he is appointing represent Republican views across the board. It's better to go full crazy and have Trump try all the Republican stupid shit once and for all, so we can discard it and the whole party on the ash heap of history.

In all fairness they were real sad about desegregation and such, so gotta celebrate when rust belt white power prevails over +2.8mil votes.

Colorado judge orders all 9 Electoral College members to vote for Hillary.
http://bigstory.ap.org/article/latest-judge-says-colorado-electors-cant-switch-votes

"
But Denver Judge Elizabeth Starrs ruled that the state's electors will have to vote for Clinton. Any who fail to do so can be replaced.

The ruling is the second against the two electors, who have appealed the other decision to a federal court.

Colorado law requires its electors to vote for the candidate who won the state's popular vote. Clinton won Colorado, though Trump won the majority of electoral votes last month."

Some were claiming that the electors could vote for anyone they damn please, more proof they can't.
