It would suck to live in those days. You have to go to the store to rent porn videos. Then you have to rewind the tapes, or they charge you extra.

I wish I could have lived back then. I bet life was relaxing and you didn't have to worry about college and college debt. You just tended to your little garden and died at the ripe old age of 25.

To put things into perspective, your average bum today probably leads a better life than the richest kings of Europe did just 1000 years ago.

Much of my history education was spent on the early modern period and up. Medieval history ended up boring me to death. Didn't help that the prof teaching was dull as dirt too. I only really took it because a pre-modern credit was a prerequisite for my degree.

Classical western history has never really interested me all that much either.

not counting things like medical care and certain everyday things technology has brought the kings had a far more luxurious lifestyle.

you should read up on some of the roman elite.

surprising that ancient and medieval history are incredably interesting to me but early modern history seems boring as shit.

I love studying ancient history and I consider myself an expert in the subject -I watch a lot of History channel, afterall!

So I know all you need to know about our ancient history....

Although…if the lowest point in the 24,000 year yuga cycles (“Platonic Year” or “Great Year&#8221😉 was really around 500 A.D. like S.Y. says, then with regard to humanity’s overall general level of spiritual insight and psychological awareness and understanding, the time of ancient Sumeria’s heyday around 4000 years ago might have been approximately similar to the milieu that prevails in our world today. However, back then it was declining, mankind’s mind was darkening as the years advanced, while now it is on a several-thousand-year gradual climb back up to a somewhat more enlightened humanity.
