Fvck that, they lived in one of the hottest parts of the world without air conditioning.

arabs came up with some stuff to fix that

stay in the shade
thermal drafts built into buildings
have servants wave fans over you all day
sit on a ottoman all day playing chess

Thermal mass, underground, yadda yadda yadda ...

Still, no thanks. I hate hot places.

I'd rather live in Greenland during the coming of the little ice age struggling every day to survive than deal with the heat of the desert.

OK, as a "time tourist", I would love to spend a week in Sumeria ... but, It's not a place or a time that I would want to live ideally.

I will admit, I've only had the "Midas Touch" by dogfish head once, it was quite good, but, I'm kinda impartial to stouts or meads.

yes, but don't you agree that these were the people that gave humanity its greatest achievement?

imagine--the first people that discovered beer. probably a bitching time to be alive.

If living conditions back then were worth a shit, we'd still live like they did. We don't because it turns out that living conditions through most of human history really sucked. College debt or financing a home or accidentally knocking up the local bar wench just isn't as much of a stressor as dying of dysentery in your teen years.

If we have hoistory on the ancient sumerians, who did they have history on? They didnt just appear; didn't they also wonder about who came before them, and research said people?

there are surviving documents from sumeria that talk about history before them as well as the current history in their time

the ancestors of sumeria were likely irrigation farmers in mesopotamia

I think today is a good day to be alive. The craft beer scene in the USA is amazing.

I've made a few batches of Mead, one was a light fruit mead with a bit of pineapple added. The other was a hearty sack mead. The Sack mead is awesome. The fruit mead is meh.

Put your zip code on the dogfish head fish finder ...

Some of their ancient ales are the Midas Touch or Sah'tea (Sah'Tea is 2000ish year old finnish recipie with junipers, it's really really awesome.) Midas Touch will be easier to find ...
looks like they have no distribution in MInnesota, but, there are places in Houlton, WI, Hudson, WI, and Prescott, WI where you can find DogFish Head....

sure, if you are really into IPAs! 😡

Ehh, I like IPAs, but I mostly love stouts!
And Founders is only a few hours away, Three Floyds is only a few hours away, Goose Island is close, Pipeworks is close, and all make epic wold shatteringly good stouts 🙂
