Anandtech Super GT 300 Racing Series

I tried hosting a game and practicing a bit...my first time playing GT5 online. Does performance drop off very quickly with the soft tire when playing online?

Also, the power limit will be set so all GT300 cars are eligible right? I thought the limit would be 300hp but then my Amemiya Asparadrink is at 330hp (no mods obviously).

Oh and my PSN is "thilan29".

If you had said something earlier, I could have sent you a car, I have all of them and if I do a save before I send, I wouldn't even lose it.

I'm going to try to get in the room and run a little very shortly. If it's running well, I guess we are pretty much set for the race.

I'm not going to be available from 4pm cst to 6pm cst, due to the other race I have to run at that time. I'll try to check in here a little after 6 to see if anyone is having any issues...... if anyone else can try to help anyone that has questions, I'd appreciate it.

Guys, this first race may be a little rocky, but the others will go a lot smoother once everyone had done it and knows what to expect.... I hope a lot of you all show up and I'm sure we will have some fun. 🙂

Tire wise i dont know. im going with mediums i think as softs i wear out to quickly but hards would last longer than needed i feel.

As for power...i set the limit at ~360 which should cover all the gt300 cars. For the actual race the limit might just disappear since we all know what cars are needed anyways 🙂 More just for practice and in case we do practice races with nonAT people, thats what the current limit is for. But yes each Gt300 car has slightly different hp. Mine is at 328, i think the lexus was just under 300. All similar though.

And hopefully people will do at least a "practice join" to make sure they know how to join before its time to actually race 🙂

Yea, today has been the first time I've been able to turn on my PS3 in a long time.

I would leave the limit at 360, just to keep anyone else from coming in. At about 7pm or right before we start qualifying, we need to make sure that only our people are in the room. I guess we just need to post it in the chat messages...... this is one thing I'm not sure about how to control. I see there is one guy in there now practicing that isn't in our league, he's not even running a Super GT 300 car.

If you can't get a car before next week, pm me. I will be happy to send you one, I can't today because I've already used my "gift" send for the day.

I won't be back on until a little after 6, have another race to run (wish me luck)! I'll check in on this thread before joining you guys in the room about 7pm or a little after.
 
We could always set a password so that only people from this thread could get on.. As long as everyone checked here that wouldnt be a problem (except I know people wont check)

I'm hoping it won't be a problem. I'll ask the guy running the other league I'm racing in if he has any suggestions. I know if we use a private lounge that everyone would have to be in that persons friends list.

my connection to the room was pretty shaky earlier, thats why i didn't join. (basically no bars)

will that screw the room up?
 
i wouldnt think so. Just be on your end of things that might be sketchy (ie cars not being smooth but "jumpy")

Id try to join anyways and see how it looks. Just me and a couple other people so if its laggy then youll know 🙂
 
Good race!

I got bumped off at the corkscrew, spun and was also assessed a 4second penalty for taking a short cut(?).. so that pretty much blew my shot. Ah well. Didn't help I was way aggressive trying to catch up and spun a few times either.
