Anandtech on NVIDIA and DX9 :-)

The strange thing is that GeForce FX Go5650 (NV31M) is now where to be seen here, at least from what we have seen so far.

Why is nVidia still having trouble getting its .13mu parts to market?

We have been informed by manufacturers that NVIDIA was back in Taiwan about 3 weeks prior to Computex, to supposedly answer for their actions and reassure consumers. This was strategic move an anticipation of AquaMark and Half-Life 2 benchmarks that were going to pop up soon. The basic content of the discussion between NVIDIA and their respective manufacturers were to reassure them that they were doing fine and to expect everything fixed with newer and better drivers.

Someone is going to be in BIG trouble when the world really finds out that IQ was sacrificed for FPS in the DET 50.XX drivers!

First of all, the majority [regardless of which graphic solution they produce] have told us that they believe that ATI is not cheating. They believe that if NVIDIA requires certain questionable optimizations in their drivers and ATI does not all while still leading benchmarks, the consumer is going to catch on very fast about who they should choose for their next graphics solution purchase. The majority additionally are sure that this will play out very soon. However, those traditionally considered NVIDIA strongholds told us that they are seriously discussing the possibilities of ATI internally.

Dah Dah Dummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm 😀

mmm mobility 9600

*crosses fingers that it will be a reasonable drop in replacement in D600*

Ok, so like on my e740, which has both SD and CF, I tested a 128MB Memorex CF and a 128MB Memorex SD (they don't have speed ratings written on them). File size was 10.3MB (biggest file on my PDA) Transfers were done from main memory to memory cards. Data:

SD 18.34s
CF 19.56s

SD felt a bit snappier with the percents moving up.

WTF??? Wrong thread there MacGyver 😀

That is VERY interesting. This answers all the nVidia/DX9 questions. Very interesting view point indeed. I knew nVidia should have been using SecureDigital memory!

😕

OMG, that is ridiculous

Yes the friggin' auxiliary power connector is still perpendicular to the board like the 5900U. VERY inconvenient indeed! I do welcome the return of the "dustbuster" cooler. The proper motor and driver circuit is realised this time around and the b!tch is quite tame, no louder than a 5900U full bore.

Roll the newspaper all you like, this board has the rendering power to render it right out of your hand! 😛 How's the air feel?

Cheers!

Dasm, seems like NVidia has been lying for the purpose of keeping their OEM partners and not us end-users. NVidia better hope that OEMs don't hold grudges like end-users often do.

I think it's very safe to say that Anand has already run R360 vs. NV38 and RV360 vs. NV36 benches.

Wonder if it was DET 50.XX vs. CAT 3.8?

hehe, he's probably playing half-life 2 right now on a p4ee/amd64 + r360 😉

Bet he's playing it on the NV38 though. 😛

Seriously though, I'm glad I didn't buy my 5900 yet, looks like there's a new card in town!

And it looks like NVIDIA thought Abit's OTES cooling solution wasn't a bad idea...
