Glad to see Purch and the admin team on the same page. Took you only about five days to figure that out.

I don't see the "disturbance and disruption" there. Perhaps you could explain the reasoning. The videos don't auto-play. They're no different than embedded images until the user presses a 'Play' button. What am I missing?

And the MEDIA tag still works, so users can accomplish exactly the same thing, it's just a little more ponderous and less well-known. So, what exactly was accomplished?

Instead of

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBqcZlKuVyo

we just have
Code:
[media=youtube]jBqcZlKuVyo[/media]

The disabling of auto-embeds was a decision made by the AT administration team, not Purch, after they received multiple complaints on reported posts where that feature became a disturbance and disruption. Although the source of it was only a small number of users, it is a global setting and so everybody was affected. You will sadly need to type out the bbcode, or make use of the button (once it's been fixed).

Thanks for the update on that one.

Still looks like a nerf and an easy out.

I still don't like the right hand panel, but that's clearly not going anywhere, so, whatever...

But isn't it possible, without any great modifications, to expand the right-hand "Latest" section/panel of the forum entries in the listings of the forums so more than first 20 characters of the "latest post's" subject line is displayed? It just seems ridiculous to restrict that space so severely when in most cases there's fully half a screen of entirely blank space between the name of the forum and that tiny little cramped section, and even in the single listing that has to show sub-forums, there's plenty of room to expand the section and still leave more than sufficient space for the sub-forum names/links...

yes it is possible thanks to KenG6 😎

Thanks! (But still, it seems pretty strange to have the current default as the default, since it serves no purpose whatever...)

My only wish is someone experienced in Grease Monkey will someday put out a script to try and bring back the old left side navigation.

It's funny reading the Xenforo forums about the new popup navigation menu and how users think it's the best idea ever vs the vBulletin way.

My logitech g502 middle mouse button (click and then move mouse up or down to scroll) doesn't work on anandtech. It works fine on other sites. This is the first time I have ever seen it not work on any site.

Sadly, we do not own a Logitech G502 to test. I can tell you that my office-issued Amazon Basics mouse has no problems with this though.

Strange it's not working here. After reading it works for you I disabled ublock origin, noscript and Stylish plugins with no luck. I'm using Windows 8.1 and firefox 48.0.1 here.

weird, I never knew this was a thing, so I just tried it with my G602, Wini10 and Chrome, and it works fine. I also have stylish, ghostery, noflash, etc installed

Isn't that just a browser setting? If I turn off 'autoscrolling', I can no longer middle click scroll.

Using Firefox 48.0.2/Windows 10 and a Logitech K520 set (M310 mouse)

It's working fine today. Very strange that it worked on other sites but not here yesterday. It's a feature I use a lot to save wear and tear on the scroll wheel. I know I can use the up and down arrows and page up/down but I use my mouse more than my keyboard.

Any eta on when searching will work again? Also, advanced search does nothing. The search button will gray out when pressed then it turns blue again with no indication it did anything.

It's in its final stages; however, the changes we're making will require that the search index be rebuilt. Since our previous rebuilds caused a significant slowdown of the site, we're using a different method this time around.

The changes will be pushed live towards the end of the week, and the search index rebuild will occur Friday, late in the workday. This should be completed by the following day with (hopefully) minimal impact to users.

tl;dr - Give it a few more days.

Thanks for the update. Good to hear it will be working soon.

Changes to search have hit a snag. Rather than pushing out a potentially faulty fix ahead of a holiday weekend, we'll be revisiting the issue next week after Labor Day.

Care to provide some details beyond a question mark? What URL was this seen at? What actions triggered it? Can it be reproduced? Is it still happening?

I haven't tried it with the default theme (mainly because I just discovered this button yesterday), but when I use the quick navigation button on the top of the forum, the screen shifts down so I have to scroll up to see the full popup menu. However, it doesn't do this when I open the quick navigation at the bottom of the page.

Using the dark theme, latest version of Firefox in Windows 10

Here's an example of how it looks after I press the top quick navigation:

Works fine for me on Windows 7, Firefox 47, dark theme. Navigation popup is positioned ~100px from top of web page.
19" monitor.

We cannot guarantee full functionality with anything but the default theme—and not even there, as there is still a lot of work to be done. Those other themes are user creations and were only provided as selectable options due to massive user demand. We cannot optimize everything for those right now; there is a reason we launched with only the one main theme.

For me, it's positioned correctly, but the page automatically scrolls down when it opens, so I have to scroll back up for it. When I get back to a computer, I'll try it with the default theme.

Honestly if it's that much of a hassle to meet user demand, why did you launch new forum software at all? This rollout certainly could have been handled better.
