Now that the site is "modern", I'd love to see some sort of "Original Poster" or "OP" badge so that we know the person replying is the one that started the thread.

Pretty sure I've seen this on other Xenforo forums, probably some add-in somewhere.

This is a great feature. Even something as simple as bolding the username.

On the page source I see classes "uix_threadAuthor uix_discussionAuthor" on the OP's posts. So this shouldn't be hard to add with CSS.

I feel like I am in a wholly unfamiliar forum now.

Is there a way to compact things down? There's a big logo at the top of the page, and it seems like each reply takes up more room than before.

Sigs won't collapse. The user setting ... it does nothing.
Sigs on this new board are cluttering up the posts. Never had to hide them before.

I'm not sure if I'd technically call it an issue, but is it a Xenforo thing or an admin decision to not allow embedding video from imgur ?

Seemed unusual that Facebook and YouTube is allowed and imgur isn't, it used to be one of the recommended sites to store things here on AnandTech.

I've been storing my stuff there a long time now and rarely even look at FaceBook.

Thought I had done it with Xenforo elsewhere.

Imgur video? Do you mean a gif?

BB Code is your friend.

Some short things I have stored show as a video there.

mp4 I guess, like I mentioned it's not a big deal, but if try to use the media button there is a site restriction and get a "cannot be represented in JSON" error.

Was just messing around with things last night and thought I had embedded that elsewhere with Xenforo.

Disclaimer: I'm new to XenForo and using a 11.6" laptop.

Two questions regarding multi-quotes:

1) In a thread, click quote on several posts then what?
Edit: Ironically while typing this reply I discovered the "insert quotes" button but I prefer the vBulletin implementation which is more functional with less eye candy.

2) While replying to the mult-quotes how do I enable the full text editor so I can include hyperlinks, etc.? I already tried "more options" but it doesn't bring up the text editor. Is it my browser (Chrome for W10) or an option/preference I need to enable?

In your preferences there's an option to always use the rich text editor for posts. I think that's what you're asking?
Click on your username at the top of the page & scroll down to Preferences.

And yes, this quote systems takes some getting used to.

Thanks, found it and enabled 🙂

I'm still not understanding the original question. Imgur doesn't do videos; why would we need to support video embeds from imgur?

Apparently you have nerfed most embeds.

So much for improvements.

I guess everyone needs to customize on their own to get things to work right.

Code:
[MEDIA=youtube]EY5Jb0k6tEg[/MEDIA]

[/QUOTE]

I don't understand where the hostility is coming from. Imgur "videos", such as the one you linked, are gifs. All it takes to embed it is to remove the "v" from the end of the link, reverting it to a gif.

What are these nerfs? When you have a complaint, it helps to put words to them. Otherwise, I'm stuck sitting here attempting to read your mind, and while I would certainly like to do just that, that is a gift I simply don't possess 🙂

I think he's saying the Media insert button doesn't have any functionality. It opens a box to accept a URL but then rejects the URL you paste. Soooo....
You have to manually embed a video using the code he posted.

The button is broken right now, yes. We're working to address that.

Sorry if I came off as hostile to begin with, but they were working previously here just from cut and paste.

The disabling of auto-embeds was a decision made by the AT administration team, not Purch, after they received multiple complaints on reported posts where that feature became a disturbance and disruption. Although the source of it was only a small number of users, it is a global setting and so everybody was affected. You will sadly need to type out the bbcode, or make use of the button (once it's been fixed).
