He's busy editing out all his posts where he called Rollo out, and where he said the GTX 512 wouldn't be clock as high as it is.
OK, I'm done.

Rollo is vindicated. ATI took the crown from NVidia, and now NVidia has taken it back. Competition is great. Now let the prices drop.![]()
you could argue ATi never took it from nvidia as the X1800XT wasn't available.![]()
I could just as easily question this thing's availability. And look - nobody is whining about it's heavy power draw or dual slot cooling! Must not be important anymore starting today...
Not as heavy as Ati's power draw...

http://techreport.com/reviews/2005q4/geforce-7800gtx-512/index.x?pg=12There's good news and bad news here, I suppose. The bad news is that the GeForce 7800 GTX 512 requires an awful lot of power?nearly 30W more than the Radeon X1800 XT when running our test scene.

Luckily my 600watt PSU is up to the task.

I looked at the adand review and thought that yes the X1800 got kicked about.
BUT
Anand dont show minimum frames..
I would really like people to look at the driverheaven review...I know it is a ATI mainly site but it sheds a different light. Minimum frames really do matter......and they did a review and guess what they saw.....similar results to toms although not as much but the ATI card got 904Mhz on the memory. and really got stuck into FEAR.
Just have a look and see what you think......also consider that the 256MB version of the XT is coming out at a lower price with minimum performance loss.
For now the winner is Nvidia but that is not the whole story.
P.s. total linkage http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/7800512dhreview/
I had wrong link first time.

While this is most definitely an emphatic victory for Nvidia, at $700, the 512MB 7800GTX hardly "flushes ATI's margins down the toilet" as someone in this thread said. Who here besides Rollo is going to buy one or two of these cards? As if this card even competes with the X1800XL (which IMO is a crappy deal anyways @ $400 since the 7800GT can be had for around $300), or even the X1800XT ($550-600). With that said, I don't see much of a point in getting the X1800XT these days if you can find a 512MB 7800GTX.

This to me is not a mirror but indicates discrepancies. No telling which site is correct or incorrect.
I kind of like Toms graphs only because it shows power usage for each card under many games. Interesting way to do that.

Well the way I look at it the card is only costing me about $395, after the sale of my 7800GT and a couple other miscellaneous parts
Then again... I don't have college to pay for any more![]()
