I am a little overly upset at this IOQD issue. this has been compromising performance of VIA chipsets since the P1... why hasnt this issue been addressed in bios years agow? this is agrivating to find my AMD 64 system is making its self run slower than it can. I am a gamer and my system must run with the BEST! I hope that soltek has the answer to this.

reguarding that program: is says advanced users only. i am an advanced user i build computers for people, but that program requires a genius

I'm also a IT but I agree that it requires a genius. We shouldnt have to turn to software to fix a problem that we should be able to change/set in the bios itself.

You couldn't be more worng! PDP XBL PC3200 uses Samsung TCCD with Brainpower PCB's. That is the absolute best RAM available for A64. In fact Madshrimps did a review with a DFI 754 board and the PDP oc'd the highest! SO next time you may wanna not give any adivce unless you really know.

Another thing I noticed is when I set the T1/T2 command in the bios is does not take effect it stays at T2 even if I set it to T1 :(
Anybody else having same problems? I love this board but there is just a few little things that need working out.

Posted 262 with the following settings:

cpu 10X
ram 2,3,3,10
LTT 600

258 is the max that will run 3dmark03. 260 bombs during the first test.

YES, the P-120 fits this board. The heat pipe barely touches the first dram. I only run two sticks so I moved them to the far end sockets. You can (depending on the memory) get 4 sticks to fit but I would be worried about the heat from the pipe affecting the first stick.

I really like this board and it is FAST. Granted I have a 6800U and when overclocked (470 core 1200 mem) with my winchester 3200 at 258 mhz I get 13,300 3dmark03's.

Hi X2C,
The 1T/2T command rate only works with a CG revision or later Athlon64 CPU.
Could you please check what version your processor is?
Below is the information from AMD datashet:

ADA 3200 A E P 5 AP
Part Definition: AP= Rev C0
L2 Cache Size: 5= 1 Megabyte
Case Temperature: P= 70 °C
Operating Voltage: E= 1.50V
Package: A= 754 Pin Lidded OµPGA
Model Number: 3200:
Brand: AMD Athlon? 64 Desktop

Table 1 AMD Athlon? 64 Processor Part Definition Options
AP Rev C0
AR Rev CG
AS Rev CG
AW Rev CG
AX Rev CG
BI Rev D0

Rocketman14,
You can check "NewEgg.COM" to see if they carry this cable. If they don't, you can go to the link below ("NCIX.COM") to buy one:

Thanks and regards,

Just hooked up my new mobo and I'm plagued by the same problems I had with my old one. My video is not coming on, and it sounds like it's restarting. I think the board just doesn't like my other components for some reason. If I can't get it to work, I'll sell the mobo/CPU and go back to s754...because I shouldn't have gotten 2 bad mobo's in a row from the egg.

Any clues anyone??

Hi Unaimed,
You can contact our Holland branch at sales@soltek.nl to check if they carry these cables and ask for the contact info. of the nearest resellers in Sweden.

Kabob983,
Please disconnect all the IDE devices from the mainboard and make sure the CPU, cooler, RAMs, and graphics card are installed properly. Then clear CMOS data by jumper JBAT1 on the mainboard:
1) Turn off your system and unplug the power cords.
2) Move cap of JBAT1 from pin1~2 to pin2~3.
3) After 30 seconds, return the cap back to pin1~2.
4) Power on to see if it gets the screen work. If so, please Load Optimized Defaults in BIOS.

Thanks and regards,

Lydia,

I got my video working earlier today, but now I'm back to where I was with the previous motherboard, except this time it will not read from my A drive. When I try to flash the BIOS, it usually just boots off of the HDD, and when I finally did get it to boot to the A drive, it said it was an invalid I/O device. Windows still will not load, and on the previous board, it would not read my CD drive, so I couldn't reinstall Windows, but I've not tried it yet on this one. I'd like to flash the board though before I try reinstalling windows.

Any clues as to what my problem is with my A: drive? Any ideas as to why windows will not load??

Hi Kabob983,
If you disconnect all the IDE devices from the M/B, can you boot from the floppy drive?

Thanks and regards,

I am a little bit annoyed, I have tried sending a report of my problem several times to support@soltek.com.tw and the messages keep getting kicked back by their mail server. This also happens even if I use the website submission form. This company really needs to get their web presence up to standard.

Here is my problem.....

Everything on my system seems to be operating fine. I installed this Motherboard two days ago and updated to the latest BIOS revision W1.3 at that time. However, the ?5V line appears to be reading incorrectly in the BIOS setup screen, and in the Soltek HM software.

My voltages read as follows in BIOS setup..
Vcore = 1.52V
VDimm = 2.72V
+3.3V = 3.31V
+5V = 4.99V
+12V = 11.84V
-12V = (-)11.79V
-5V = (-)61.84V
+5Vsb = 4.97

Please note above the ?5V reading is not typed wrong, it is displayed (-)61.84V

In your Soltek HM Software 1.26i (Windows XP) the ?5V is displayed as --3.94 and again that is not a typing mistake, there are two minus signs preceding the numbers.

My Power Supply is Enermax EG475P-VE (470-Watt) and appears to be functioning properly. It did not display any problem like this with another motherboard (Albatron PX865PE ProII).

Is this a known problem? Please give me your advice, the system is working without trouble, but I don?t want to hurt it by continuing to run if something is wrong.

Thank you,
James

Problem with RAID setup.

This request is for Lydi or anybody else that has set up a raid on the K8TPRO.

I set up my computer without any problems, running an Athlon 64 3200+, 2 512 MB Ballistix Sticks (PC3200) 2-2-2-5 1T, and a 72 GB WD Raptor (SATA). I loaded Windows XP Pro without any problems.

I then wanted to add two more hard drives (ATA) to the system and run them mirrored. One already had data.

I used the bios utility to mirror one drive to the other. The bios (using CTRL-F at startup) can see the 2 drives as Array 1. Since I could not find any documentation on setting up the RAID (using the promise onboard controller) for an operating system already installed, I decided to go the safe route and reinstall windows. The Raptor was selected to contain the operating system.

I followed all the instructions for setup, got past selecting the drivers for raid (from the supplied floppy), and windows proceeded to install. Somewhere near the end of install, the install froze, and I received a blue error screen claiming that one of the new SATA drivers was causing problems. I followed all the instructions provided in chapter 6 of the manual (including setting the raid in bios) and was at the end where the manual states "After selecting the proper driver for your system, the Installation Program
will then guide you through the rest of system setup. The RAID
driver will then be installed into your system."

Has anybody else seen this?
Is there something I need to do to fix this?
Is there a way to install the drivers from an already running operating system or do you need to install the raid with a fresh install of Windows XP Pro?
Is there a problem with the drivers provided on the floppy?

Tonight, I will try downloading the drivers off the Soltek website if there is a different version from the one that was shipped (although I did buy the motherboard mid December). Any other advice, or experience (good or bad) would be helpful).

Thanks.

I gave up looking at the Soltek HM software & uninstalled it cuz it was saying alot of things were wrong with mine as well. One of them being the CPU reading always saying its 30c and never moves, its stuck.

Naso/Lydi, I am also having similar problems with setting up RAID. I got my board for Christmas and have yet to get the RAID working. I'm not Mr. Computer, but I have been building PC's for about 10 years now and have set up RAID on several PC's in the recent past. I followed the instructions in the manual and they track pretty closely with those I have done in the past. But when the Windows installation reaches the point where you would choose the drive/partition to install windows, there are NO drives present. Pressing the enter key results in BSOD. Windows will install just fine on just about any non-RAIDed drive configuration......but that's not what I bought it for. I have emailed Soltek support but have not heard back from them yet. If anyone has figured this out I would greatly appreciate hearing how you did it. Sorry about the long-winded post. Just a little frustrated with this motherboard.

The HM software would be the least of my worries, it is the -5V reading in the BIOS that has me concerned!

Peace
James
