I am glad to know it does work.

Xeizo,
I have sent this BETA BIOS to you several times but always got bounced by your mail server.
Do you have another email account that I can send it to you?

Best regards,

Is there some place where we can download this BIOS? I'm having some memory related problems as well and would like to give it a try. In fact, if someone can email me this file, I can post it on my FTP.

Today I set up my athlon 64 3200 and soltek SL-K8TPro-939. I flashed the bios to rev. w 1.4. 1/28/05.
LTD - 8 bit. 600 mhz. Mem - 166. FSB to 278. Mult to 9. Vcore. 1.55. I save and exit. Thing comes up as 3200. I went back into bios. FSB had reset back to 200. Multiplier stayed at 9.

I change things to mult of 10. FSB 220. Same on other settings. Save and Exit. Thing reboots and says 3200 again. I reset the bios too and re-enter values. Same problem.

The problem is that no matter what I set, the mobo will not hold a FSB other than 200. Is there any setting in the bios where I have to override something to get FSB to move. Also, even if I change multiplier, it still does NOT affect my clock speed. Is my board hosed? Is my CPU hosed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

**update**

I read about people's FSB's resetting to 200 after going too high overclocking. I dropped multi to 7 and was able to get a FSB 0f 245. However, on reboot the screen still says athlon xp 3200. What's worse is that when I go to windows the speed is now 1.96 ghz. It is faster if I leave it alone.

Also, with defaults the system will boot up at either 2.0 ghz or 1.8. This is truly bizzare....

Hi X2C,
There is no review for the SL-NF4Pro-939 at present.
But I believe there will be one and more soon.
You can check our homepage regularly for them. :)

Thanks and regards,

Hey Lydia, where can you purchase these? And do your current bios on the 939 boards support Rev E cpus? I would like to buy one (currently have the 75FRN) but I just bought a San Diego 3700+ so I need a board that will support it.
Thanks
Monk

Hi Monk,
Thank you very much for the interset in Soltek M/Bs.
You can find the SL-NF9Pro-939 in stock of NCIX.com as well as the SL-K8TPro-939 & SL-K890Pro-939:
http://www.ncix.com/search/?quicksearch....+Price&imageField.x=29&imageField.y=9

Also we have tested the San Diego (3700+ & 4000+) on the SL-K8TPro-939 & SL-K890Pro-939 and they all worked fine.

Best regards,

Hey Lydia thanks for the quick reply! 2 more questions, will the SL-NF9Pro-939 support the 3700+ out of box? and will the SL-NF9Pro-939 be coming to retailers in the states soon? I noticed it was OOS @ NCIX. I want N4 really bad but I might have to settle for the K8.

Hi Monk,
The SL-NF4Pro-939 does support 3700+ out of box. :)
Since NewEgg.com does not carry it now, we are not sure when it is available in USA. Sorry!

Thanks and regards,

angrsquirrel: The boot will always say "Athlon 64 3200+" no matter what it's speed is. Please check in windows what the cpu speed is.

Lydia,

Thank you for sending me the BIOS. Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem and the motherboard is still not recognizing my memory with the correct SPD setting nor is it allowing me to manually set the memory. Currently, I'm using a 1gig of Mushkin Basic Green (SPD 2.5-3-3-8). Regardless of whatever I try to force in the BIOS, it runs at 2.5-5-5-10 and at 2T.

I've tried it with 1 gig of Corsair Value select PC3200 and 1gig of Buffalo PC3200 (Winbond CH-5), but didn't have any success with them either. At least with the Mushkin, the system is stable albeit noticably slower than it should be. With the other sticks of memory, I have problems booting into Win2k approximately half the time. This problem occurs whether I'm running at default or overclocked. Once booted into Windows, the system runs fine, however the AGP card would periodically default to PCI mode from 8xAGP.

I've switched out literally every piece of hardware with this motherboard and have yet come up with a configuration that works reliably.

Hi Brian48,
Thank you very much for the feedback.
Actually the BETA BIOS fixes the problem that certain CL2 RAMs can't run at "CL2".
However, according to your description, the Mushkin Basic Green is supposed to run at "CL2.5" not "CL2". So your problem is not the "CL2" issue, right?
It seems that the memory modules can't run with their "SPD" on your mainboard. We have tested a pair of DDR400/256MB RAMs (2.5-3-3-8) on the SL-K8TPro-939 and they did work with the SPD (2.5-3-3-8).
Could you please flash the BIOS to W1.4 and load "Optimized Defaults" to see if you can get the memory work with "SPD"?

Best regards,

Nah. Already tried that. v1.4 came with the motherboard. The CAS setting is correct at 2.5, it's just all the other settings that just won't take. FYI, this is with 2x512mb DIMMs, not 2x256mb.

Thanks, Brian48.
We tested 2 more pairs of DDR400/512MB RAMs and found that one pair of them does present the same issue as yours.
Now our BIOS engineer is checking it.
We will get back to you ASAP.

Best regards,

Lydia,

Thank you very much for the extra effort on your part and your development team. I wish I got your message a few hours earlier last night. I spoke with the vendor yesterday. Since he hasn't experienced any issues of this type with the other boards that he's sold, he suggested that I swap it out with another one to see if the issue still persists. The board went out today and my replacement should be back in a couple of weeks. I'll try it again then to see if the problem still exists. Thanks.

I am still experiencing an incorrect temperature in the bios of my motherboard. It shows CPU Internal temperature at 53C at idle. I have flashed to the latest bios available (W1.4) Also when I run SoltekHM ver. 1.26k the temperature will disply anything from -14 to 238 changing every second. I have read this entire post and have found nothing that helps. Have I missed something or do I just have a Bad board?

thanks

I have this same problem (Temps not right), and also some overclocking issues. I am using the latest, 1.4, BIOS.

My main overclocking issue is that 3D applications crash, giving me that nv4_disp driver crash. If I run at default, no overclock, everything runs fine. As soon as I overclock for example 262 (or 250 as I had before), even tough CPU is Prime95 stable and everything looks fine, if I fire up an app that uses the video card 3D features it just dies after a while. It either reboots itself, gives me blue screen with nv4_disp error, the image stays on the screen, or the monitor goes into powersave mode.

I have tried many LDT settings, but always get the crashes, in some settings it lasts longer than other, but I still get the crash. I am about to try the 8-bit settings that X2C talked about earlier. I also saw a post that X2C had problems with 3d crashing on high overclock, I would appreciate any input on that plz...

Lydia, if you think any changes in the beta BIOS could benefit me plz tell me so I can email you a request.

Thanks.

EDIT: Tried the 8-bit setting X2C talked about earlier, but I still get crashes...

Hi Brian48,
It's okay. After you test the BETA BIOS on the new M/B, please let us know the result.

Aiwa138,
Regarding the temperature, "53*C" is still acceptable for the K8 CPUs. Furthermore, the Athlon 64's thermal shutdown temperature is 125C according to AMD's datasheet. If the system is running fine, you need not worry about the temperature.
As to the Soltek HM, the version 1.26k is NOT supported by the SL-K8TPro-939. Please use the BETA version on the following link:
http://www.soltek.com.tw/soltek/downloa...er/others/hm/soltek/soltekHM(beta).zip

Hi Elocal,
Regarding the "nv4_disp driver crash", it may relate to the driver or something else. Please try the workarounds of the following thread to see if any of them helps:

http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=3425

Thanks and regards,

It might be acceptable for a K8 but It can not be the correct temparature. The same chip and heatsink runs at 37c on my friends DFI NF4 Ultra-D. 53c is not acceptable to me if I am going to OC.

As for the Soltek HM, Ver. 1.26k is the same beta one which you provided the link to. Which is the one giving me errors. So again, could there be something wrong with my board?

thanks

I have this exactly same issue with the temps too, and the same results as aiwa138 with the beta HW Monitor....

Thanks for the link Lidya, I will look into the workarounds. The strange thing is that it works perfect at default...

Do you know how X2C solved his 3d crashes?

Hi Aiwa138,
I have tested an Athlon 64 3000+ & Athlon 64 3800+ on the SL-K8TPro-939 with the BETA HM and it worked fine.
Here are the readings for your reference:

Athlon 64 3000+ --> 49*C in BIOS (full load) / 44*C in HM (idle)
Athlon 64 3800+ --> 47*C in BIOS (full load) / 42*C in HM (idle)

Also you can check the pictures in the followin links:
http://server2.uploadit.org/files/LydiAtSoltek-K8_3000.JPG
http://server2.uploadit.org/files/LydiAtSoltek-K8_3800.JPG

We are not sure if there is a conflict between some software/programs and HM or someting is wrong with the CPU. If possible, please reinstall the O/S and HM to see if the CPU temp. turns to normal in HM.

Thanks and regards,

Does anyone know what display sensor to choose for this board for CPU in Motherboard Monitor? Which sensor is it and what type do I use? Thanks!

X2C, I was looking at using the Thermalright XP-120 on my SL-K8Tpro-939. Do you know if I need any additional components to buy other than the heatsink and fan to hook this up to my CPU? Where did you end up getting the heatsink/fan combo from? Thanks!

Nah the cooler will go stright on :)
I brought it through DSE here in New Zealand for $130 for the HSF Combo
