Populating Slot 3 & 4 did not help.

It says on boot that it's running in dual channel so that is not the problem.

Yeah I was at 267x9

*EDIT* I've just been doing some more testing and that was nowhere near stable.
Read post below.

Lydi: Yes, but for the sake of it I'll do it again. So see if you can come up with another idea in the meantime =)

rocketman14: Yes.

Hi ScrapSilicon,
According to VIA, the K8T800Pro chipset does support the A64 dual core 939 Toledo. However, since we have not received this CPU from AMD, we are not sure if the SL-K8TPro-939 is able to run it without any hardware modification for the time being.
Sorry!

Thanks and regards,

We are sorry that the "-5V" issue makes you feel so bad. As it does not affect the system working, that's why our R&D engineers don't set it to the first priority in the revise list. Anyway, if you like to have a fix now, please email me at lydia@soltek.com.tw. I will send you the BETA BIOS and HM in which the "-5V" item is removed.

Thanks for the offer, and I will probable take you up on that. Although I wonder why a BETA BIOS wouldn't be posted on your website, as long as it is clearly marked as such, other manufactures do this.

Either way it will have to wait as I have RMAed the SL-K8Tpro-939 and it will be a week or so before I get a replacement. I have previously mentioned that I was getting temperature readings of?
20C Ambient (RT1)
50C CPU
That?s at idle with nothing over-clocked!

Well I switched to a new Asus ?A8V deluxe? everything else is exactly the same, A64 3500+, Zalman 7700 HSF, Artic Silver 5, same case and case fans. My temps are now?
20C Ambient
32C CPU

So there was obviously something wrong with the sensor on my K8TPro, or there is something wrong within the BIOS. This is not the first report of what appear to be wrong temperature readings I have seen, like a board with an XP120 HSF returning high 40s at idle.

We shall see.
Peace
James

Has anyone tried to use Clockgen with this board yet? Other people have been having more success with Clockgen to o/c rather than the bios with other mobos/chipsets. I'd LOVE to get 2.6 GHz out of my 1.8 GHz proc :)

Hi Unaimed,
How about raising the "DIMM Voltage"?

Punkitup,
Thanks for the information.
Could you please inform me "32*C" on ASUS M/B stands for "CPU External Temperature" or "CPU Internal Temperature"?

Thanks and regards,

Well I've had enough of this board and it holding me back.
I know damn well that my RAM can do 270+ and on this board it shits itself at 250FSB no matter what I do.
MemTest does not even make one pass with out errors and I also took a picture of something rather odd from the bios.
WOW I get 2 CPU Voltages!

Hey everyone, could you guys all please email the guys at ClockGen to see if they can add support for this motherboard on their product? I've already done it myself and would really like to try this out. Other people with other boards have had success with ClockGen allowing them to achieve higher overclocks than their BIOS or included motherboard utilities would allow them to go.

I'd really like to try for 300 FSB with this chip, but I'm stuck at 250.

Lydia,
This reading from the Asus A8V board is 'NOT' from an external probe.

Rocketman14,
The Asus board worked without issue right off the bat.

The Soltek is a handsome board and appears to be of very high quality in its construction. I have had the -5V reading issue, which Soltek has acknowledged, and word from Lydia that there is a beta BIOS gives my hope that that will be resolved soon. I am currently looking to figure out what the deal is with CPU temperature readings that appear inaccurate. So to answer your question to me, until I can get these items cleared up, the Asus has the edge.

One thing I said before though, and I will say again, I do not believe you will get the level of interaction you are getting here from Soltek from many other manufactures, and particularly not a large company like Asus. You may not always like the answers they give, but I nonetheless still commend Soltek for the continued interaction.

Peace
James

Hi Unaimed,
The problem you have now is weird!!
Is it possible for you to borrow another pair of RAMs to test on the M/B to see if it is able to work with "Dual Cnannel"?

Thanks and regards,

I used some RAM from my older computer. Unfortunatley they where not equal so i could only try in single channel. I got the same results with this memory indicating that the problem lies on the motherboard/another component.
