I had mono about 5 years ago. It was the worst fatigue feeling I ever had. For me it only lasted 3 weeks I guess I was lucky. Everyone I talked to said it was months and months before they got better. What sucks is there nothing the DR can give to help with it.

I remember being at work and just sitting in my work room (computer tech) for 8 hours and doing nothing for a few days. I did not care at the time I felt so fatigued. My neck swelled up the like the hulk, it was very painful to swallow.

Once I went to the DR they took a throat culture for mono. The DR gave me penicillin but told me if the test comes back for mono to stop taking it. 2 days later I knew I had mono. I tried to go to work the rest of the week but by the 3rd week I said fuck it and stayed home. That week I drank Gatorade orange like a mad man. I forced food down when I tried to eat. The pain was so bad I had to push down on my chair with my hand as I swallowed the food.

Each night after I would sleep I would feel a little better. I was only getting like 2 to 3 hours of sleep at a time. I remember by Saturday I got a full 7 hours of sleep and felt better. Also my throat felt much better. I went back to work by the 4th week and felt pretty good by then. I only lost a week of work but should have stayed home the other 2 weeks I had it.
