Ruben is too white? LMAO! He is from Midfield(very close to where I used to live). I would hardly call Ruben white. My sister teaches with his mom as well.

I agree... I think Clay has more pure talent but Ruben is very close, and Ruben's style of singing has a more widespread appeal.

I would totally disagree with the statements about repetitive and widespread appeal. I think Rueben's voice and songs are VERY repetitive. Clay hauls out a lot of different stuff...fast, slow, pop, jazz, etc. Rueben only sings one type of song and no matter what they made him choose for the week every song was slow and luther vandrossish. In other words Rueben can handle one type of music the slow R&B style. And for that same reason Clay has more widespread appeal. I guarentee that more people listen to radio pop (which is what Clay can do) than R&B/slow classics. I don't like Clay's personality as much b/c Rueben is just such a likable fatty but if you judge strictly based on voice, range, and diversity you have to give it to Clay, that kid can flat out sing.
 
I really don't care (haven't watched a single episode except for a few snippets before '24' each week) but I guess it'd be cool if Clay wins (NC reprazent!) Then again, I think Clay looks like a fairy, and Ruben has that whole Barry White thing going on...
 
Up until last night, I thought Ruben had it locked, cause clay was kind of slipping IMHO.

But last night, Clay came to play, and blew Ruben away.

ruben on that last piece showed a real achilles heal. he can't do a fast song, at all.

clay is CLEARLY the more versatile of the two.
