Pretty close. 50.72% for the winner and 49.28% for the runner up w/ 31,000 votes separating them.

Where are you getting that? They said on the show it was 1305 votes seperating them, out of 24000000. Unless whoever tallied the votes has less than a .1% margin of error that was really too close to call.

It was automated from what I have read. Please, don't turn this into a recount fiasco.
I think I had a dimpled chad on my phone. I demand a recount!! 😉

I had a hard time reading the screen! It was a butterfly phone line.

Right... anyways... it happened like it was supposed to. The one who won was most liked. The people liked his music the best, so it will sell the best.

hehehe, btw, i do have perfect pitch, i've sung in church choirs, quartets and solos since i was 16. believe it or not matters not to me.

as to the more popular argument.

people liked rubens songs 1v1, but when going to buy albums people like a little variation. look at all the great music bands/ artist/ groups etc. all of the best had lots of range, variation of styles.

ruben doesn't have that. he's a limited version of luther

Just what exactly do you expect people to post on forums other than OPINIONS?

It was Simon's too. He said himself before the results it came down to talent vs. image. Image won.

Umm... facts, article, pictures, music, videos, etc.

Thanks for driving through. I was trying to play nice too... did you miss the wink?

I like how all the retards chime in this thread just to say....."The show is gay"

I mean what the fvck is the point ???
If you don't like the show, why did you even bother to jump in the thread to "say its gay"??

I mean I don't like the show "24hr" but I don't bother seeking out that particular thread to "say its gay". Whats the point ?? There are many, many people who enjoy the show.

Seriously, the people who has nothing to say except that "its gay" are retards.

What will happen to Clay? Will Ruben and Clay make a movie together? Possibly called What's Eating Clay Aikens?

would someone tell me what the title of the song that Ruben sang after the winner was announced? Thanks in advance!

Soon we will see Clay and the gang doing Old Navy commercials and making guest appearances on Mad TV, milking their fame all they can, (Like Evan Marriott).

The less talented, fatter contestent, Chris "Ruben" Studdard.

Clay is a better singer, but, while I think his future lies in entertainment, I doubt it will be as a solo recording artist.

I do think he's the one to watch in the future, however. I think after his recording contract is up (yes, they're both getting recording contracts), he'll be moving either "behind the scenes" in the music industry (like Paula Abdul), or he'll be moving into acting. We haven't seen the last of Clay. Not by a long shot.

clay knows how to perform on stage. he can make some jokes and instant talk. ruben is boring his voice is boring. he has the static smile all the time and shakes his head even when singing no-need-to-smile songs.

it's not only about voice. both singers have ok voices, as good as ordinary people here and there. but to be an idol he/she gotta know how to make the show.

i am impressed by the blonde who was in the group singing. LOL.

seriously, how much does ruben weigh? i know it's "a lot", but i don't get what "a lot" lbs mean.

Without a shadow of doubt, Clay belongs to Broadway. That's the problem with his talent. Amazingly though, my sis really liked Clay's voice and said he had talent. Normally she likes Ruben's type of songs, but she didn't seem to like it this time. My other sibling really liked Ruben but thought that Clay was talented too. Clay belongs to Broadway though. I don't see him surviving like Ruben would if he didn't do Broadway performances.

For me personally, my favourite was Kimberly. I just loved her personality, thought she had a reasonable talent (not perfect). Then when you add up everything, you see that she's a perfect candidate for the music industry. She has the preparedness to handle fame and everything else whilst maintaining her job to sing. Maybe it's just me, but I really liked her.

Ooops! What a waste of count. 😱

Yeah, I screamed when I heard Ruben's name. I was expecting Clay to win since he performed so well today and I suppose yesterday. But most importantly, I heard most callers and listeners of talk shows saying "Clay". So I thought that he had it. Good thing Ruben won.
