I think clay overall has a better range, and his voice is never raspy... I mean clay can go way up there without using a falsetto, where as ruben can barely go up and he is using it and it sounds bad when he does...

My vote is for clay all the way.

Clay's the best, his singing voice has at times been pure perfection.

I tried to call for Clay off and on for two hours. It was busy the whole time. I live in NC so maybe that has something to do with it.

Clay has better range than Ruben. People like Ruben because he's a big old teddy bear, not because he can really sing.

Neither one can sing as well as last year's winner Kelly Clarkson.

clay is too effeminate and ruben is too white

Personal biases aside, how about you merely judge them on who's better? Duh.

i'm just sayin they ain't what the current market is looking for right now...
And why the fvck is AIdol churning out all these non-marketable softies?
Let's just say a great singer thats not marketable is ...erm...good for ...(can't finish sentence)

you mean like Bette Midler or barbara streisand?

how about Fred Astaire one of the ugliest men alive.

There was a time when talent meant more than image.

can we download either of them singing on Kazaa?
i don't watch TV, but I can listen to the both of thewm while reading and posting here.

I've wanted Ruben to win from the start, and I taped today's ep, but from the minute that I saw, the second song that Ruben picked wasn't very good for him, whereas later on, Clay singing Bridge Under Troubled Waters really helped him shine. I guess we'll see tomorrow.!

I can't find him singing that on Kazaa.
Are you sure it was Bridge over Troubled Water?
Was it so recent it just has not made it to Kazaa?

It was the last song performed tonight. Chances are it is not available on Kazaa yet.

I don't have kazaa but I do use Bearshare.

Clay Aiken = 400 hits
Ruben Studdard = 180 hits

So yeah, you can download their stuff and listen.

I think Clay has a better voice and will/should win. That being said, I would rather listen to an album by Reuben. Clay can get a bit annoying and repetitive.

I agree... I think Clay has more pure talent but Ruben is very close, and Ruben's style of singing has a more widespread appeal.

Up until the last week or so, this site was the best place to download the MP3s (had them up within minutes of the contestants singing somtimes.)

http://aidol.neurox.net/

Good quality rips at 192kbps and they used to be lightening fast downloads. Unfortunately, they don't have any of last night's up there yet as far as I can tell. And their server's really taken a pounding the last couple weeks as more and more people became aware of it so the Anandtech Effect won't matter as much at this point as the site cycles through being completely dead to slow to fast again. They have a good archive of most of Ruben and Clay's stuff over the course of the competition (although not all the songs as they didn't have Ruben doing 'A Whole New World' which was the best performance of the competition IMO.)
