I've read the entire thing through and it is a joke. He's using sources from 2006 and prior that are very questionable. Good Grief. And a quote from someone who used to work at AMD as a friend of a friend.

AAAALRIGHTY then

Unfortunate post to an unfortunate site. I'm not even on a side, but I've been here long enough to know that this serves no purpose but to spread rumors that will fan flames.

I think you guys are blind . THE BD hype should have woke ya up. We had members from XS here pandering for BD I suspect there 2 are viral marketers for AMD. Just As I stated publicly here years ago . I thought Rollo worked NV. I think Rollo finely goofed and admitted it at another site .Not sure. But I recall many here took rollos side against me when I was right all along, Another member here also thought Rollo worked for NV . I have no proof that AMD is engaging in viral marketing . But I will wager on it. Someone will spill the beans.

The conclusion is simple, he's all mad and desperately needs the page hits.

Same here. I don't get it at all. Is he collecting finger pointing forum posts as his source material? How does that make for a publishable article?

I thought he said he already had evidence, names, etc. His evidence was a couple of 5 year old press releases??
I read the whole thing and tried to find some kind of cohesion or logic, but I just can't. It's a big mess of nothing.

Ive been a member here for years, and although I didnt see eye to eye with Mark for a long time, I have to say that this sub-forum has deteriorated greatly in the last 2 years to a 2 camp site.
I find it interesting that there are a number of posters, that put such an effort into denying the claims, as if they were a personal insult.

Still, there are a number of great other sub-forums here, so not all is lost!

I think its more that people dont like unsubstantiated bulls**t being posted for the sole purpose of stirring up trouble.

Seems like someone should update their Wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AlienBabelTech
According to Alexa statistics, ABT, as it is known for short, is among the top 156,000 sites on the internet.
According to this recent Alexa statistics, the website has dropped considerately.

Is this article ever going to be written or do I have to sit and read reiterations of events it seems he was the only witness. Hard to take someone seriously when he worked with the supposed shill.

I'd be more logical he used the AMD shill to gain access to further AMD reps and then when the shill cut him off, suddenly he saw the light and exposed the shill. AMD cut him off and this baggage from 3+ years ago is now coming to light? Coincident?

EDIT:
Woof!
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/anandtech.com

I didn't know AT was so popular. This puts more into light the seeming hate for this specific website.

AMD/Nvidia "Viral Marketing" is actually being orchestrated by VIA. It's all done to distract us from the soon to be known as the revolutionary unexpected comeback of all time release of the Savage X GPU. One year from now we'll be discussing VIA vs AMD/Nvidia(assuming both still exist).

Mark my words! GPU Cardmaggedon is coming!!

LOL...cause that never happens here!

The good thing about a large forum like this one (that routinely has hundreds of people viewing the VCG forum ALONE, at any one time, though many are lurkers) is that there are a lot of different voices. Hopefully the truth emerges from the marketplace of ideas, though sometimes you get groupthink instead. Nevertheless, there have been intriguing studies done about how even laypeople's opinions, grouped together, are on average more accurate at predicting things than "experts."

If you want a higher level of technical discussion, there are places like Beyond3D forum.

ABT forums? It's pretty deserted over there. So you run the risk of a few voices holding disproportionate influence, and a higher risk of it turning into an echo chamber.

Given a choice between a ghost town and the cacophony here, I'd pick the cacophony every time.

Expected a smoking tank gun and found a dying matchstick.
Unfortunate that the damage control has gotten to such lows and is being perpetuated in a painfully transparent manner.

I don't get why people don't just accept it, of course AMD is doing viral marketing, and of course they will have a presence on anandtech. Really those who post vehemently against this thread while post positively in the pretty identical CH nvidia thread all call themselves into question. Most will just be fanboys, but there will be some who are paid to keep pushing ...

Nvidia were just as bad, but I think they got so badly burned by rollo and friends that they have now gone and announced it with people openly saying they are focus group members as opposed to hiding it.

AMD must be paying someone to market, that is marketings job - it doesn't just magically happen. I personally would feel much happier if we had a load of "amd focus group" members then I'd assume they are the ones being paid. As we don't see that then we don't know who they are paying?

There's a difference between pretending made up specs are real, and promoting or rubbishing a product.
If we take Keys as an example of a focus group member, he doesn't post leaks etc as fact, he discusses them as rumours and talks with that caveat. he doesnt present them as fact.
The chiphell incident is about someone who pretended he knew specs, but was apparently lying.
