Get rid of ATI company name. Keep the Radeon name for all of the graphics cards. Fusion for the CPU/GPU hybrids. Athlon for the regular CPU's. Phenom...retarded name.

Looks like Christmas!

lol yeah. I was thinking of something more subtle.

I think that generally when people refer to ATI as AMD it's not meant to be a compliment. For that reason alone, I think it's a bad idea.

ATI = graphics and AMD = Processors and this is how it should stay!

Well, if they "must" give up the ATI company name, then I agree with some others that the Radeon name must not be lost.

AMD Radeon sounds nice and will carry the familiarity of the brand.

Ya. I think AMD dropping ATI gives an advantage to the Platform Strategy.

Maybe it's just me being sentimental.

Back when I did hardware reviews, ATi was the nicest company to deal with for getting review units. Matrox was actually pretty awesome too.

3dfx were bastards, they sent me a t-shirt instead of a video card. I reviewed the t-shirt and got tons of traffic and attention. Then they sent me a review card...

*sniff*

it'll cost less in terms of marketing exspenes.same reason ford is killing mercury. they will just sell more ford in place of mercurys. same customers.

Wow, really? AMD could call it the "FairyBoy(tm)" line and if it pumped out pixels faster, quieter, and with less heat than anything else out there, I'm getting one. It's just a name folks.

As long as they retire the big red machine, Im happy AMD sounds nicer.. and better logo,, they should do it cuz its retarded they have 34 diff names and what not..

Thats gonna cost alot of money in just print ads alone for the various brands. Not to mention the redundnat marketing efforts etc. Brand reduction usually saves money on a number of levels the primary one being marketing and there are some labeling advantages where there is some cost savings.

I think you're forgetting ATI prior to its merger with AMD. ATI/AMD's execution took a historic turn since the merger, delivering products on time (or ahead of time). Before that it was a paper launch after a paper launch, plus seemingly zero planning (e.g. original CrossFire).

Nooo AMD don't give Wreckage what he wants! 😛

I think they should keep it, I mean regular uninformed customers associate AMD with slow... I don't think it's a good idea!

I think AMD has a better name out in the market than ATI. ATI has had a lot of problems and poor products over the years. Maybe AMD is trying to escape that.

I dunno, most uninformed consumers equate AMD with "cheap", and maybe even "buggy/slow/underpowered/unstable", if they haven't kept up with the times.
