NDAs are actually rare. Reviewers agree, usually by email these days, to not release date until AMD releases a review embargo. If you re in such a position, you will usually do your best no to violate the embargo because it will hurt your ability to get review samples every again (and not just from the one company you crossed...).

No telling how these people got a 1700X, but it seems pretty clear they did.

yep, it's called an embargo, not NDA. No legal repercussions if you break, but you sure as heck won't get pre-release briefings if you go plastering stuff all across the web that you're not supposed to.

Why do these benchmarks always have the slowest DDR4 RAM lol?

Good question, though my guess is they're just using standard JEDEC timings for the RAM. Even fancy shmancy DIMMs default to DDR4-2133 CL15 in most cases. Anandtech seems to do the same in many cases.

I know some of you are concerned that there is little to no information about Ryzen’s DDR4 memory support. Thanks to Biostar, we can finally say that there should be no problem with high-speed memory with Ryzen.

The list is not complete yet, but it’s already confirmed that Ryzen will support 4x4GB DDR4 memory kit at 3600 MHz. In fact, Ryzen could support even faster memory, but so far no such kit was evaluated.

So my fastest and most recent rig is an Intel i5-2500K (3.3 GHz) CPU, where does my i5 rank with the latest "disclosures" of Ryzen? I've searched google for ZD cpumark test results for the i5, but the first two pages are mostly passmark website links.

Your Sandybridge is around 20% slower than Skylake at the same clocks, on average. The current leaks suggest that Ryzen is around Broadwell levels of performance.

That's a weird-ass QVL list. Why just those select 4GB DIMMs from G.Skill (and the one slow 8GB DIMM)? It's like they're validating with Samsung D-die and E-die but not B-die? Hmmm.

This is my 2500K @ stock, compared to the CPU-Z Reference 2500K. 6900K is 1901/13152 in comparison

Well, yeah, but at it's rated speed? This H110 board has memory support of a "DDR4 3400" stick but of course you can only run it at 2133/2400.

Sadly they aren't taking pre-orders on just the CPU. I definitely do not want that H100i.

Not an issue. As soon as you know that the board can handle the frequencies (and obviously the CPU can), then it's pretty safe to say that RAM with generally similar timing and frequencies will be compatible as well.
