Ever since the Asus bios update (for the Prime x370-Pro) to 0604 from 0515 I have been unable to get my Trident Z RGB 3000MHz RAM to work above 2400MHz.... earlier today I was able to get it to boot into windows for about 10 mins at 2933 with the stock latency settings of 16, 18, 18, 18, 38 and 1.4v but my computer blackscreened and had to be turned off at the PSU switch (case pw switch and reset switch didn't work). Previously with the 0515 Bios I was able to get the RAM stable at 2666MHz with stock timings and 1.35v. However nothing works above 2400MHz, doesn't matter if I had more voltage and/or change timings.
Try setting the SOC voltage to 1.1, per the AMD video.

Asus released a BIOS update, and then when I went to download it the next day it had been taken down.

I think that's worse :p

Ugh, waiting on my M.2 nvme drives to start installing OS. Ordered on Tuesday and they still haven't shipped. Was hoping to make transition over the weekend, but it looks like the drives won't make it here by Friday/Saturday :(

Data point.

I went from a pair of Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 that ran on my board at 2933 to adding a second set (so, a total of 4 DIMMS = 32GB total ) and I cannot boot at 2933 anymore.

The board is happily running at 2666 with all 4 dimms inserted.

2666 with 4 DIMMs of Hynix IC:s is still pretty decent though. Maybe the next AGESA update will unlock 2933 again. Apparently, there's already a beta BIOS with AGESA 1006 from Gigabyte, so it shouldn't be long until it gets officially released by all vendors.

AGESA 1.0.0.6 is currently being tested by motherboard manufacturers per Gigabyte support forums' Matt. He says they will try to make it into the next round of beta BIOSes but no guarantees = improved memory capabilities later this month?

I just hope Asus figures out what to do with it and doesnt jump the shark on the x370 prime like they did with 1.0.0.4

So for the sub-$100 range in mobo's for a Ryzen 1700, what is recommended now? I've got an Asrock Pro4 in my queue, but not sure where it stands in reliability and BIOS updates.

my build continues to puzzle me... after BIOS flash to 2.20 the board posted with memory running full speed. neat. however, i could not seem to enter the BIOS no matter what I did so I'm thinking there's some odd USB initialization going on or something; the results of rapidly hitting DEL on startup were erratic, doing any of the following:

nothing... followed by NO SIGNAL
nothing... followed by booting the OS
restarting
causing keyboard to illuminate but not booting
causing keyboard to illuminate and booting (skip BIOS)
hang on splash screen

I finally got into the BIOS after what seemed like 10 tries but now the system seems fine. i are confuse.

MSI B350 Tomahawk was $95 for me on sale, I think $105 on Newegg right now. I've got it running at 3.8 GHz with 1.35 Vcore no problem. It's stable and haven't felt the need to push for more than that, though I might play around and see if I can get away with lower Vcore.

Corsair LPX 3200 is running at 2666. Haven't been able to go higher than that but I haven't messed with timings all that much. Not sure if another board would do better with that or not.

One strike against the Tomahawk is that POST and boot times are apparently slow. I get to BIOS at about 25 seconds and Windows login screen takes another 20, so 45 seconds total on a cold boot. Annoying coming from a 15 second cold boot to home screen time, but not a big deal.

Now the more I look at it, I can't decide if I want/need the higher core count and lower clock speed or the lower core count and higher clock speed. I'm a gamer, not extreme, don't plan on OC'ing the CPU at all. Currently I've got an A10-6800K at 4.0Ghz. Oh my head ...... I don't know where to go now ....
