This is the first and last time I pre-order anything. What's the point of pre-ordering to get something on release if you end up waiting util who knows when.

Just don't preorder on amazon.

I chatted with an Amazon rep named Roselyn. I showed her the order # and she was like, "uh is it okay if I expedite your shipment?" and I was like "Yeah, please do". No update on the order details yet. We'll see how it goes.

They at least acted like they wanted to solve the problem. Looks to me like they oversold pre-orders, or there was a mixup somewhere.

Really starting to dislike Amazon. Not just for this, but they automatically locked my account this weekend for some antifraud measure (apparently buying a gift card is a red flag) and instead of actually giving that error message it just said my password was incorrect. Attempted password reset about a dozen times before they finally got back to me 2 days later and unlocked it.

I can totally sympathize with you, Amazon froze my account this past Sunday or Monday for no reason at all.Had to jump through all kinds of hoops to reset my password and gain access again.Oh and wouldn't ya know it that they conveniently unfroze it after they sold out of the motherboard and heatsink I was after.I swear they screw with people who aren't part of there little Prime club.Personally I am starting to think Amazon is the worst E-tailers specially since they started all that Tax stuff...
By the way I love that 3D printed Motherboard Emblem, Very cool. Wish I had a 3d Printer

No way. I got prime, and you don't get any special treatment. They don't care.

I like dealing with Amazon, because generally if there is an issue it's pretty braindead getting a refund. With NewEgg I had issues where it took like 3 months to get my refund.
I've also had good luck scoring my rx480 on the night of the launch on Amazon.

This time however Amazon has totally failed me. I should have kept the original order of the motherboard I had on newegg. I got my 1800X right on time too, day one. At least I will be able to share with others about the B350 board seeing how I am the only one getting it. I might whip out my oscilloscope and measure ripple too if I feel like it.

I dont get why the box is so big when it doesnt even come with a heatsink.Although I do love the color scheme as it matches perfectly with the Ubuntu O/S retail packaging. I get my 1800x delivered tomorrow or Sat by the latest. Very excited, I cant wait!!

I think the WOF boxes are also used for the smaller coolers while the big boxes are for Wraith Max bundles.

Oh I wish that was true!! I would kill to get me one of those Wraith Max Led Coolers. So pretty, like a rave party LOL. For $500 bucks they should comp us with something. Heck I'de take a T-shirt.

I pre-ordered my 1800X from BH and the Asus X370 Prime from Amazon. Both were supposed to be shipped on 3/2 release, neither has any shipment date now...

I'm leaning towards cancelling my preorder and waiting it out a few months but part of me wonders if the initial batch of 1700 chips will be better due to the fact that AMD will have more time to work out their binning system in the future and the three R7 chips will show more disparity in their overclocking potential. Thoughts?

Amazon was a total let down. I cancelled my order a little bit ago and ordered a 1700 from Newegg. Still need to find a Mobo though. Maybe I'll take a little drive to the Dallas microcenter and pick up a Mobo there.

Haggled Amazon and got upgraded to 1 day shipping and CPU now has been charged to card and is being packaged, shipping the 6th delivery 7th. Better than a week but still miffed... Mobo still hasn't changed.

Usually, the process does get better as time goes on, that is no secret.
You can also wait for all the teething issues to get ironed out as well.
Same applies to the mobos, ever release that I can recall from every maker has needed BIOS updates, AMD or intel or VIA, they all have things they missed until more people try their boards and they find issues.

As if you should wait or not, only you know that, if your system is good enough, then wait, if not, you bite the bullet or make some choices.

If you can wait, I bet a new stepping or 1900X with more OC headroom or at least +100-200MHz stock clocks will be released.

I was hitting the limits of my 6700K already so I didn't want to wait.

Ditto. I just cancelled my order. They finally posted that my CPU could arrive on Tuesday while the motherboard is still MIA. I'm not going to be here on Tuesday, and I don't see why I'm paying for overnight if it's not, y'know, overnight. I had been hoping to build this weekend, but looks like there'll be a couple more weeks of baked-in stability by the time everything's available. And hey, who knows, maybe someone will announce a motherboard with 10gbe, or a PLX chip, or motherboards that support four sticks of OC RAM, or even announced compatibility with 16GB sticks of RAM. So strange that, although this seems more a content-creator/video-editing CPU, the boards are aimed at gamers. I need 10gbe, I need one GPU, I need an acquisition board, I need a ton of really fast RAM ... and I need a 4-lane slot that turns into 1-lane as soon as I breathe funny like I need a hole in the head :shrug:

Maybe I'm better off waiting

I still have to choose the storage. I want to got NVMe, but as I will try to run macOS on the hardware I wanted to avoid it for the moment ... complicated!

Was wondering the same. I can't even find this info for the Corsair 3000 MHz RAM I ordered. Some PDF's state it's dual rank, others single. Seems like there are different revisions out there.
As long as I get it to 2400 I guess I'm happy, but 2667 would be better. At 2133 it seems the RAM can bottleneck the CPU somewhat. In that case I might sell it and order some cheap actual 2667 MHz memory. No point in going higher if it's artificially limited by Ryzen anyway.,

I read somewhere (can't remember where from the 4-5 reviews I read yesterday) that Wraith Max bundles for the 1700X and 1800X will only be for OEMs and SIs.

I very much doubt that. If they release a fan-included SKU, it'll probably carry a small price premium. Might not be more than $5, but it'll be there.

Official numbers from AMD (here, scroll down) say 1866MHz max for 4-dimm dual-rank. As such, getting 2133 is a good result.
