AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

Looking at a few reviews, I'm glad I went with (well, going with, have to pick it up this weekend) the 1700.

Amazon doesn't have a delivery date yet for me though for the Crosshair VI Hero. Anyone have their's charged/shipped yet from them? Expecting all other parts today... can't really do anything without the mobo, though.
 
Asus Crosshair VI Hero preparing for shipping. Hell. Yes.

I preordered from Newegg within the first hour, FWIW.

Booted sata ssd without drivers in win 10. Ahci i guess.
So windoes have a update for that.
Installed the other drivers then from dvd.
Dont know what crimsome relive is 🙂

Bios is inmature. Looks more like a draft. 3 weeks old. So yeaa needs a good deal more software dev. It goes for all the tools i tried.

My guess is most will be ironed out in a month.

As of now ASUS AL Suite 3 is interferring with AMD OC software tool.
My recommandation, with an asus mb, is to stay on the Asus for now as it is tailormade to the bios.
Really weird to oc from the desktop btw. But makes it very fast to evaluate steps. Havnt tried that before 🙂
 
Btw. on my prior haswell build i made for one of the kids, drivers was needed for win 7 to boot. Not so here. So in many cases this is a far more simple setup.
 
According to B&H support they will be shipping the first Ryzen batch on Monday...

Dave R : The item is on backorder. We just have in stock tommorow
Me : will it be shipped tomorrow then?
Dave R : no. Most probably Monday
Me : any reason why it changed from shipping on 3/2 when I was pre-ordering

Awesome, did you reinstall Windows 10 or just let it recognize your new hardware?

Hmm, doesn't sound like they sold out within 13 minutes, seems like they didn't have stock period and won't get any until about a week from now. I mean I can understand all the griping, the whole point of preordering is so you can get a shipment near or on launch date, instead of having to wait for stock when ordering on or after launch date.

For Amazon to not have stock period until a week after the launch date, that is a pretty big fail right there.
 
well, looks like I'm canceling my order then. the board I wanted is out of stock everywhere, but if Amazon doesn't have them anyway then that's basically the same thing.
 
Preordered all three of the new Ryzen chips from Microcenter but they ran out of the Crosshair VI in no time. I'll probably cancel my order since I don't have a motherboard to put them in and I don't want to miss out on the $30 discount for CPU/motherboard combos.
 
Any of you that went with or are going with Asrock boards, they posted a new 1.40 BIOS today. Significant version jump from the 1.10 first BIOS.
 
there's a solid chance i wouldn't have been able to get to the build right away anyway, but the whole point of a preorder is to reserve the item... like usual, screw the consumers.
 
I am looking to build a 4K workstation for videos. Currently looking at the 1700X paired with 32GB DDR4 2400 ram, Samsung 960 EVO 500GB, and a GTX 1070. What's a good decent motherboard with NVME? I don't really want to spend $200 - $250 on the high-end ones.
