This is a thread for those planning on making an AMD Ryzen based computer. Please post what processor and motherboard chipset you plan on getting as well as anything else you plan to get with the system. When AMD Ryzen processors arrive, feel free to post pictures of the parts and the builds (assuming they don't sell out).
This will the first computer I build rather buying prebuilt and the first new desktop I own as opposed to used.
My Planned Build
Processor: AMD R5 1600x, 6 core/12 thread.
Motherboard: B350 based, most likely choosing Asus.
Graphics card: EVGA Nvidia GTX 1070 superclocked version
Ram: CORSAIR 8GB DDR4 2133mhz (ram prices make me a sad panda)
Hard Drives: A total of four hard drives. Two 2.5" 500gb 5400rpm hard drives (recycled from old computers) and two 3.5" 7200rpm 2tb drives (found ebay deal).
Power supply: Thermaltake Litepower 650watt power supply.
Case: Bitfenix Neos.
Operating System: Fedora 25 or newer.
Finally in the future I will buy a Blu-ray drive and a 4k monitor, when I have the funds for them. For now I stick with a old 1050p monitor my dad used for his old computer or a hdtv I already in my house. Finally I got a keyboard from Unicomp to emulate the old Model M experience.

Motherboard: X370 chipset not sure which brand yet
Storage: 512/500GB SSD probably M.2 NVME
RAM: Waiting on Motherboard Specs & Reviews. At least 16GB.
2TB Magnetic SATA drive for Game Library.
HTC Vive for VR.
Not sure on GPUs yet, probably going with 2x RX 480s in crossfire.
Already have an 80 plus gold 1000W PSU with sweet spot at a little over 500W.
Might reuse a case or buy a new one, not sure yet, depends on prices.

any suggestions regarding xmp profile support on new am4 boards? If i buy a 3000cl15 kit today, will xmp just work or do i need to take in mind timing modification because current xmp profiles are skylake optimized?

If a board is 2667 specced will it typically run 3000?
What ram timings would you recommend to go for on the r7 line?
I saw a Biostar itx comming with b350 and x370 - do we know of other brands comming with itx?

XMP support is board dependent, however I don't recall seeing a AMD board which wouldn't have supported XMP for several years.
Higher speeds than the officially supported (TBA) ones most likely require manual configuration.

With the high ram prices I'm stuck with a 16gb pc3000 and 4c/8tX or 8gb 6c/12 nonX (but maybe x) decision. Ram is apparently going to only get higher.

There are only 2 kits that are available in my Country : Kingston HyperX SAVAGE 2800Mhz CL14 and Gskill Ripjaws V 2800Mhz CL15.I can't afford more than 2800Mhz.expensive.

The memory speed support is mainly software dependent, as long as the board (chipset) supports overclocking.
As with every other platform, lower the timings the better.

Biostar is the only ODM who has announced a ITX AM4 boards (AFAIK), however we've yet to see a single in flesh

Going to wait for reviews, but as long as performance meets reasonable expectations I'll probably be putting together a 6 or 8 core machine with whatever midrange Asus board. Would like to run UnRaid with Windows VM for gaming and other stuff like Plex and Linux for Ubiquiti controller.

And thats it. Nothing more will be inside the computer. I have a NAS with two 2TB WD Red HDD's.

I'm going to build a Ryzen rig, but am not sure which RAM speed to shoot for. I'm going for 2x8GB

Hard to say.
Personally I definitely see a demand for AM4 ITX boards, but the ODMs often work in mysterious ways.
I don't know any technical limitations which would make it excessively hard, expensive or impossible to make such board.

I think it would be really cool to own an AMD CPU again. I have not used one since A64 3500+. Waiting to see performance and how the top end chip measures up.

If it's good I'll replace the motherboard/CPU in my NAS/media server box, depending on RAID options available on server boards.

I haven't followed any rumours. I'd like to see the top end chip match a 5960x though. In my estimation that would be a really good showing. I could care less about power consumption or any of that. Some OC headroom needs to be there as well to stay competitive with OC Intel chips.

It's MIMCap, something that Intel first introduced a while ago:

Intel doesn’t stop there, to make a chip you need passive components, memory, and possibly a bit of analog here and there too. Intel has shown off spiral inductors, very high precision resistors with <15% variance, and three capacitor types. In addition to the standard and metal finger caps, Intel has a new high density structure they call MIMCAP. As an aside, this is not where that glowy bit from the Roswell pictures ended up, that isn’t productized until 14nm unless you are a military buyer.

He suggested it had to do with bypassing... His example was running The Witcher and the cores going from idle to slammed full throttle and the voltage drop that would induce. He specified all the different elements in the core being "covered" by these capacitors. It reminds me of the old days, lots of discrete ICs everywhere and bypass capacitors tied to almost every one.

Count me in. I'm thinking of going with either the 1700 or 1700X. Which one depends on the XFR implementation.

From what I've seen the mainboard will be the ASUS X370-PRO. I haven't decided RAM yet, properbly some variety of 2667MHz+.
