BTW, I updated the AB350 Pro4 firmware to 1.44.

I will try to manually force the Trident Z.

In regards to the sad state of memory support / firmware, I made 2 builds for customers using the Asus prime AB350 plus. Same exact builds, same board in both, same firmware in both, same RAM in both.
One of them worked perfectly with the eVGA RAM at 2933 using the XMP profile. The other one had to be forced manually at 2933 with a little voltage over 1.35V...

I can't get my 1700 to recognize my 3400 16GB Trident Z ram. I am on the latest bios of the Asus Pro x370 gaming. Can't get it anywhere above 2133.

DDR4 memory compatibility, or more precisely the basic memory timings that are required by the Ryzen memory controller, is the biggest issue we are currently dealing with. For example, the Ryzen memory controller apparently "prefers" a Command Rate of 1T, while the standard JEDEC SPD data for DDR4 memory (tuned for Intel DDR4 memory controllers) is set to 2T. That seems to work for some existing DDR4 memory and the Ryzen memory controller, at the default/base DDR4 memory speed of (usually) 2133. But the XMP data for higher DDR4 memory speeds is universally set to 2T with existing DDR4 memory models. Manually setting memory parameters is virtually essential when using DDR4 originally designed for Intel systems.

The Ryzen memory controller has been said by AMD to not support "memory dividers" for DDR4 3000 and 3400 speed memory. Memory at those speeds will run at 2933, possibly 3200 actual for DDR4 3400. Given the information from CPU-Z's database, DDR4 3200 is the real world maximum current memory speed for Ryzen, with one entry at 3384. This is for all mother board manufactures combined.

Funny how we're mostly having better luck with B350 boards versus rushed X370 flagships... lol. My lowly Gigabyte B350 has dual BIOS...

Amd basic problem is the xmp is for Intel imo. Intel jdec doesnt go over 2400. They simply need to establish an amd xmp profile for this to be solved 100%

The self diagnostic in zen is not working consistent. And it looks to me like a self diagnostic process. The trc fluctuates as i can tell. It can be helped for sure with new bios but getting there 100% without own standard like Intel is tough. May is interesting...

In december zen was a max 2400 so they did get ram up quite a bit before release. At most thats metal layer respin and probably more just firmware?

Whatever. I already have the Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming K7 unopened and was considering returning it for the AsRock X370 Taichi, but now I'll probably stick with the former.

I have decided to delay my build until summer, to let the bios get the kinks out. I am very excited about building a new computer for myself, as my current rig is just about tinkered out. (OC'd x5660).

Me too!! I stepped out for like 20 whole mins to go to my eye exam literally 20 mins on the dot and this happens.

According to this review, the DIMMs are double sided (dual rank), which is why you're having some issues with high speeds. I'd suggest first setting the advertised timings 16-18-18-38, set it to 1.35v, save and reboot. Then change it to 2400 and see if it posts.

No love yet for the Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3. Still on 2/24 F5 BIOS version.

MSI just released 2.2 for the B350M Gaming Pro dated 3/20. Here are the update notes:
- Improved memory compatibility
- Improved system stability.
