UK was a battlefield at 2PM when comes to any online IT shop with Ryzen 5xxx listed :O
I had my processor in car at 4 different shops and none of them stayed online before I managed to get to checkout ...
But in the end, making a phone-call to my sales rep saved the day and I will be getting my Ryzen 9 5900X on Saturday!

So, I’ve been playing around with ASUS auto OC. It wants to limit my CPU to 4200 MHz all core. In doing so the voltage drops like crazy. On stock, it appears that the CPU is fed way too much voltage. I was close to 1.49 during 3dmark. The ASUS OC dropped it to 1.09/1.1.

I haven’t overclocked much at all since my wolfdale days, so if anyone has some advice, I’d appreciate it!

Wolfdale? Oh man memories. I remember overclocking an E3300 on a cheap MSI board that actually used DDR3. I think I bought that combo here on FS/FT yeaaaars ago.

And if you are lucky, maybe you can get something next November.
These paper launches are getting really old.
Yep, it never used to be this hard to get the higher priced stuff, it was the mid range stuff that generally sold out instantly upon launch. I was wanting both a 5950X and 5900X today and would have been happy coming away with just one of the two on launch day. I was on and refreshing when they went live and never saw even one available anywhere except AMD direct (I managed to get a 5950X in my cart but the site kept timing out until OOS). I hate every single one of you that somehow managed to purchase one today........:rage:

My 5950x is arriving this Sunday. Really stoked to see what this chip is capable off. Going by today's launch I can only imagine how difficult it might be to get a 6900xt. Hoping I get lucky then as well 🙂

Really disappointing when only one or a handful of enthusiasts manages to snag a unit when there are many other enthusiasts who are unable thanks to low stock and scalpers.

Pretty sure there are over 20 5950x's on ebay now that are ranging from $1200-1500+.

Too bad I and many others were ready and waiting at launch hour and still couldn't get one.

Nothing against you, obviously you did something right to get one and have a solid delivery ETA. And you're not scalping it.

MSI x570 Gaming A-Pro, first it was intermittent crashing, then it wouldnt boot at all. After sending it back in for RMA, they did no real testing whatsoever (time into repair shop to time out of repair shop was like 20 minutes) except to update BIOS. Of course, I had already updated BIOS and put that in the RMA notes. Predictably, when it came back from RMA I got a different USB overcurrent problem and still no boot. There's clearly some kind of power delivery defect but it has been immensely frustrating to solve.
I just remembered this comment, and the MB you are mentioning is perhaps the worst X570 motherboard that exists. While looking through a review for the Unify to check how good it will be for a 5900X, I found this review that shows how terrible the MSI x570 Gaming A-Pro is. I would get a replacement board asap.

anyone have motherboard recommendations?

I'm probably going to get a 5900X, but plan on running the CPU stock

do plan on OCing the RAM to try to get a high FLCK, but I think that's going to be more dependent on RAM & CPU than motherboard

Got my 5800X in, still using my old DDR4-3600 CL20 kit. I'm having some issues with my 1080Ti that I need to play with tomorrow, but I just tossed in an old GPU to get some quick test data. Running 4.75GHz gave an R20 score of 6194. Good enough for now, I'll really start messing with it when I can find a deal on some better RAM and actually migrate my OS over to the new NMVE drive

All-core OC on my new 5600X does 4.6GHz @ 1.224v and 4.7GHz @ 1.328v. My place holder 3600 does 4.2GHz @ 1.296v (Increasing to 4.3GHz seemed like it needed 1.325v+ so I didn't bother).

Impressive jump with respect to clocks and IPC. I'll leave it at 4.6GHz since that seems like the sweet spot for vcore and temps.

Man, Ontrac is taking FOREVER to deliver my 5600X. No wonder Amazon dropped them years ago.

Getting impatient I see :).... me too. ...
Looks good, the new chips. How are temps, do you have comparisons. This is very important to me as I like quiet operation.
I bought direct from AMD and they shipped my 5950X yesterday. Maybe on Monday I will get.

Well I'm hitting about 64degC during gaming with my Scythe Fuma 2 Cooler with included Scythe thermal paste. I was so impatient I didn't even bother cleaning off the previous thermal paste application from the cooler when swapping CPUs :p. If I run Cinebench it hits about 71degC.

I got a 5800X and B550-F at microcenter. I'm coming from Z97 with a 4790K. I'm noticing my voltages sky-rocketing to around 1.475V on stock settings and staying there while gaming. The clocks are also at 4.85GHz across the board. Is this normal? Temps are around 70C. I'm also noticing that my FireStrike gpu score is about 1000 points less than with my Intel build. Why would this be? Is my motherboard defective?

Do you have BIOS AGESA version 1.1.0.0? Your board is good. By default most boards dont have it. Update is necessary and very important for proper operation of the new chips.

Yeah it's updated. My processor seems to be running great. It's just my gpu that is performing slightly worse. I should mention that I'm using a 1080 Ti and it's forced to the correct PCIe link speed in the bios.

Ok, you might want to install the OS cleanly, and also check the PCIe settings in the BIOS.
Also check the RAM DOCP settings.

I dont know how PCIe is configured on ASUS B550, I have a Gigabyte X570 board. Someone will have.
